Default Increase supercharger whine inside the cabin.

Just wanted to share a supercharger whine mod I found. It’s cheap and easy to install. I like that you can adjust the volume by adding or removing layers around the end of the sound tube. It’s also cheaper than the Mina Gallery Intake and they ship quickly.

Funny...I did the opposite...You essentially recreated a simplified version of the Jaguar Symposer...I tore mine apart and removed it

Sounds like you are enjoying it, so great. To each his own.

Thanks for sharing that. I never knew there was such a feature. As for the sound it’s definitely subjective. I came from a singe turbo upgraded BMW 335i so I am used to obnoxious induction noise. I might add more layers to the sound tube to decrease the volume further if I grow tired of it.

Well...Good news is, The solution you bought and installed is a ton cheaper than the OEM Symposer/Resonator I am sure! I just felt there was enough good noise coming from both ends, and did not need the additional/synthetic noise pumped in, in my case.

Enjoy!

Could you take the existing symposer tube and connect it as Sparayno1 has to the inlet and get the induction whine through that?

Possibly, but you would need an extension hose (like he used in the video), and the Symposer currently connects to the passenger/right side intake. It is built with a diaphragm to modulate sound, and I imagine tuned to the output and pressures produced from that intake outlet (it is not just an air tube listening for sound)…

So I guess it is possible, but not sure what sound it would create. You could also just disconnect the Symposer and connect that hose in the video straight from the intake, to the resonator in the firewall - Maybe that is what you meant? (#5 in the image is the resonator BTW)

As I said...I think I had/have plenty of noise from the front/engine, and rear/exhaust anyway...And with the VAP Cats/pipes, I cannot hear anything else anyway

Cheers. I am a bit of a fan of the whine in the v6 and I did put in BMC filters to enhance it (works a bit) but ultimately with the VAP quad exhaust you can only hear whine a little before the exhaust drowns everything out, so I'm not berserker for a big mod like the new air intake. will consider this but probably only a passing fancy. My missus has the p300 in her XE, that gets quite a bit of induction noise so I can always scratch the itch with that.

With the full Mina intake, the SC whine can certainly hold its own with the VAP Quad sound. The F-Type now has the jet engine qualities that my JCW MINI has.

The whole point of increasing the sound is to impress enthusiasts and annoy neighbors. This kit serves to do nothing more than enhance self enjoyment. That could lead to blindness.

I already have tinnitus from years of abusing my eardrums with loud motorcycles, stereos, rock concerts and shooting. The sound on that Youtube video would drive me crazy.

not my cup of tea but I'm glad there are companies doing things for the f-type.

After a few days the sound did get bothersome in the cabin. I have uninstalled and plugged up the holes today. I will be installing it on my other turbo vehicle to see what happens 😆

It is nice to see the F-Type get some aftermarket attention though and I didn’t mind trying it out.

I noticed a notable increase in supercharger whine with my pulley+tune. Makes sense as the supercharger is being driven to higher RPM's at any given point in the RPM range; that increase is perfect for me.

The main reason for the increased SC whine with the VAP lower pulley and tune, especially under WOT or high in the rev range, is the way the tune changes the operation of the SC bypass valve. Put simply it closes the valve sooner and more/tighter, increasing air flow, SC boost and whine/noise.

My hearing must be bad. I never noticed any discernible whine with or without the pulley/VAP tune. The lower MINA intake, on the other hand, just screams.

So I took this kit off the F-Type and installed it on my stock turbo 1.5L Honda Civic. The turbo spool sounds hilariously loud, almost like a big top mount turbo. Interesting to note that it works for turbocharged vehicles as well.

For some reason, much more SC/Turbo whine is available from a 4 banger than a 6 or 8. My JCW MINI sounds like a jet engine. Perhaps that's only because the exhaust isn't partially drowning out the whine. Maybe the whine with a lower intake upgrade on the 2.0 I4 would be over-the-top. Have any F-Type I4s tried this yet?

The guy in the YouTube video could have just bought four of these for a lot less money and installation time

Amazon Amazon

Just kidding of course, but then again people do strange things to their cars....

I think the 4 cyl does have more induction noise due to less exhaust noise drowning it out. Would be interesting to hear the 4 banger F-Type with the Mina gallery Intake.

I can confirm that with engine cover removed, the whine is more loud (V6). I would rate original sc intensity as 2/10 then without the cover 4/10.
