Question Infotainment System Change?

The Dealer told me one of the services they were going to perform was an Infotainment Update. But my 2017 still looks the same as before. Can it be upgraded to the 2019 system?

Your top picture is what my 2018 upgraded ICTP looks like in my XE. They added Carplay/Android Auto at the same time, which might not be possible with your '17.

The software was upgraded by the dealer. It will probably have an upgrade every time you take it in for service.

Upgrade vs Update. I think OP is saying how does his 2017 get an upgrade to the 2019 system. Simple updates (fixes, patches) doesn't mean you get the new UI. I had asked the same salesman who sold my my CPO from the dealer a year after I got mine for an upgrade, and he said it wasn't possible because they want you to buy the newer models. Is he wrong? Does Jag honor something like that?

There is a big thread on the Merryway system which might have some information that you want, I am interested in the outcome as well.

I would mention that we have the new incontrol touch duo surround sound system in my missus' 2020 XE. It looks flash and all and the sound is great but I actually think the one you have (and I have) is easier to use. I want to set up android auto in my wife's car though for the real time GPS.

Is it technically possible? Yes.

Is it financially feasible? Likely no, and Jaguar isn't going to do it.

Speaking of infotainment update, has anyone noticed any differences /improvements after their dealer had updated the infotainment for them (2016-2017 MY after the global update)? Is it really worth asking the dealer to perform the update if any?

I had an access to TSBs for an hour, and found almost nothing about the changelogs before the OTA version. Little about the NGI update as a separate TSB (for 2017 MY if not mistaken).

Neither had my Audi, but from discussions on their forums I found that a specific update opened a possibility to change subwoofer settings or another update improving overall interface responsibility

So Im talking about changes like this - UI changes, new settings, not just generic “iOS connectivity fixes”

The original version of ICTP in my ‘18 XE would lock up occasionally, or would be very slow to boot occasionally. None of that with the new software. And CarPlay is nice.

The difference between the two is that the upper picture is InControl Touch Pro. The lower picture is InControl Touch. The Pro lets you install CarPlay and Andriod Auto. Any infotainment that has the soft keys on either side of the screen is the lower end radio a.k.a Touch. It will not be able to get CarPlay as of now. That why when they did the update to the upper picture it may have gone from a four tile set to the, now current, three tile setup.
