Hello F-Type gang! My first Jaguar was an XKR 4.2 X150 Convertible, which unfortunately never charmed me.. Neither in appearance nor in the feeling of driving. I also had the condensate drain from the air conditioner repaired (I did it myself in my workshop). After about five years I sold it...I've only driven it for four thousand km over the years. After a few years, however, I bought a 1999 XK-8 convertible. We still have it today. The timing belt tensioners, thermostat tower, shock absorber mounting, etc. did not deter us.
We like the XK8, it is a very charismatic car. In my opinion. Well, the reason why I am writing all this is to introduce myself to the F-type group with my latest acquisition...
It is a V6, 340PS, AT, British racing green and a brown roof! I only have to replace the obligatory cooling pipes and hoses. The original owner had the alternator replaced twice by the dealer because it was damaged by oil...during the second repair they replaced the valve cover gasket...I was a bit skeptical and expected a leak at the timing covers...but after driving 1000km I checked and found that everything was dry...So maybe they really fixed it correctly.
In any case, I am very happy with the F-type! The 1000km drive from Germany, through Poland, home to the Czech Republic was a great experience for me and my wife! The car drives beautifully, the steering is precise...the engine power is fully sufficient, the seats are comfortable! A few hundred kilometer stretch on the highway with an unlimited speed allowed for legal driving at 230 km/h. Great! I am quite an old man...I don't need to drive faster.
Hey guys!
There's a lot of salt and snow slush on the roads outside, so I'm working on the F-type. I've learned a lot thanks to this forum..and even though I work in the auto/moto industry, this forum has already saved me tons of time! . And I have to admit! I'm really enjoying all the work on the F-type so far!
This time I came across this line while changing the oils (AT Transmission, engine, differential)! According to the JLR part number it should be KVM (Keyless Vehicle Module) / RFA (Remote Function Actuator) [1, 3].. Is this location really correct? After all, it all touches the cardan shaft...Even though it's all in a protective case, looking at this solution still doesn't make me feel good!
Is this correct or is there a mistake somewhere please?
Thank you very much for your reply.
I can't make such super educational videos as many clever people here on the forum, but maybe this short effort of mine will entertain at least some of you a little.
Thanks for the response.
I can't imagine doing it at the garage entrance, like some local enthusiasts... But if you have a mounting pit, or even better a column jack, it's quite a fun relaxation.
The only downside is that ZF oil (it doesn't matter if it's old or new) makes the whole place smell really bad...
