I was just prompted to download an updated version of the Jaguar Remote app. to my Iphone.
Another prefect example of making busy work!!
There was nothing wrong with the previous (current) version.
The new version does not add any functionality - just changes stuff around.
IMO the older version is more user friendly.
Why do s/w companies insist on "updating" when there is no need?

 

They want to keep the " tech" guys working. Same with marketing, always something new, but end up redesigning the wheel.....

 

Sometimes the updates are just to fix bugs or security issues in their code or 3rd party libraries they are using. What you don't see can hurt you.

 

I run both V1 and V2 of the Remote app. I much prefer the V1 interface and only use V2 for stuff that no longer works on my V1 (wakeup timer).

 

There have been a lot of security issues of late.....you don't want just anyone starting your car or perhaps stopping it.....etc.

 

After installing v2 and using it, v1 no longer worked so I deleted it.

 

I have both versions installed and both wrok pretty much okay. V1 no longer lets me set a wakeup timer and occasionally prompts me to download V2 when I start it up. I much prefer the V1 interface, much more intuitive and less "fussy".

 

Not sure if it’s always been possible, but I discovered yesterday that I can lock my car using the app from outside with the key fob still inside the car. Not a major issue but something to be aware of.

My C43 had that functionality and I really liked it because you can go hit the trail or around town without the need to have the keys in your pocket ( you usually have your phone on you so easy to unlock and get back in ).

 

The interesting thing is the Check Engine light came on for me literally right after I installed the new app. The app says "Status No Issues" though

 

Perhaps I am missing something with V2 but whereas V1 could show daily mileage in total plus trip by trip, V2 seems to only show trip by trip data.
