Default Mechanics - What Is This? Does It Get Hot?

This piece of the exhaust system on my car has a barcode/sticker on it (not sure why). It's stuck on really good, so I might use some potentially flammable adhesive remover to get it off cleanly. I don't think it gets hot since the barcode/sticker doesn't look like it's heat damaged, but I want to make sure. Don't want my car to catch on fire

I'm no mechanic, but I believe that's the actual bottom of the exhaust muffler/silencer housing and not a separate skid plate or cover. Thus, it does get hot! How hot I'm not sure, but maybe best not to use something that can leave a flammable residue on it?

photo isn't my car, just image I found on Google. It appears the sticker must be a JLR part # or something...

The annoying thing is when I try to take a low level photo the sticker is visible!

So I'm not the only one then. It's just so cheap looking when you are admiring that *** to see this price sticker thingy.

Use the solvent of your choice while the muffler is cold. Wipe off the residue when done. Any residual amount will safely evaporate off as the muffler warms up. When in motion the minuscule amount of vapor can't maintain an air/fuel ratio within the range that is combustible.

Snap, crackle, pop and flame coming from the rear....you will definitely draw the crowds of onlookers!! :-)

I'm going to look for that sticker too. I have a label indicating the windshield mfg date still adhering that I need to remove. Guess I need to 5S my car to use a Lean expression.

Seen the sticker you are referring to on every F-Type. Very noticeable from directly behind the vehicle, especially when you might crouch for a low camera angle, as well as from any car that might be following you.

I removed mine within days of delivery. Drove me nuts. Any decent adhesive remover when the car is still cold will do the trick.

I'm guessing this is a V8 only problem?

Yes tried to see today in my V6, but the pipes are in the way so without lying in the ground you can't really see.
