Sitting in the car, all the grunt is coming from the rear, all the whine from the front.

So on to the $64,000 question Lance, how much more SC whine if any?
And if there is more is it SC whine or is it really induction roar?

No more induction roar. I really had very little whine before. I would guess only about 25% more now, at least perceptible now. Still pales by comparison to my JCW MINI. The exhaust note really drowns out most of the whine.

Strange.
You have the pulley and tune same as me, except you also have a slightly smaller upper pulley, but I have heaps of SC whine especially under WOT. I would say 1000% more than before the pulley & associated tune.
So much so that SWMBO throws a hissy fit if I dare give it some in her company!

Could be my hearing is just gone in that frequency range.

Unlikely. There’s plenty of adjustment available in the current tune to adjust for a bit of extra airflow, if it even exists.

Funny thing is my hearing is completely shot in the high frequency range!

Edit - I believe you got your pulley and VAP "with pulley" tune a few months before I got mine, maybe just maybe my tune is a later/different version with more inbuilt SC whine (caused by keeping the SC bypass valve closed more and longer) than yours?
Might be worth contacting Chris or Stuart about this and possibly getting a new tune.

I can’t explain it. I’ll get a soundtrack of the MINI to show what real SC whine should sound like.

You didn't mention the nagging from the side?

Not an issue. I keep it under 3000rpm when She is in the car.

Yep, if SWMBO is in the car and I give it some there is a pronounced, persistent and very loud whine from the passenger side which doesn't go away until some time after I have eased off the go pedal.

you'd think this kit would trip a check engine light without a tune?

I can’t see why. Aluminum tube versus plastic tube isn’t going to significantly change the airflow passing the MAF sensor.

I thought you guys were aiming to increase the loud whine when pressing the go pedal ?

True, but not at the expense of a fearful ear bashing that continues on for some time after the go pedal has been unpressed!

I haven't been on here in a couple months and come back to check in on an air intake and find this! Lucky timing.
So Unhinged what air filters are you running? I looked over all the post and didn't see anything about that.
Also are you getting Stuart to adjust your tune?
