Which Mityvac model?
Our local Jaguar dealer in New Hampshire closed for good and now we have to drive pretty far into Massachusetts for any service including oil changes. We’d like to start doing these ourselves I would like to know which Mityvac model to use?
Just get one that takes at least 9 litres (assuming you have a RWD).
I bought a cheap Chinese 8 litre one that works quite well, trouble is it only takes 6.5 litres!
So for the 7.25 litre sump capacity of the RWD V8 and V6 best to get one that has a fair bit of head room, such as an advertised capacity of 9 litres
Unless you have an AWD which takes only 6.5 litres in which case an advertised 8 litre capacity should be OK.

And when the stooopid dealership whacks 7.25 litres in an AWD and you need to drain the excess .75 litres?
Waaaaaaaay easier with an extraction pump, takes 5 minutes max, as opposed to crawling around on your back underneath the car getting covered in hot oil while you try to guess that you have drained .75 litres and you are trying to do the sump plug done back up again! Let alone the hassle, time and inconvenience of taking the car back to the dealership to get the excess oil removed, either driving it back or putting it on a flat bed.
Seriously, as I may have stated elsewhere, for years I ignored the extraction pump method and did it the old fashioned sump plug way, then about two years ago I switched to the pump method and I will never go back, infinitely easier on my aged bones and takes a fraction of the time!
