Yeah, I noticed that too. It's funny; with the older cars it seems that it's mostly guys between 45 and 65 that notice them.....with the F type it's women, kids; everybody really. I was a bit surprised.

Again, thanks all for this great feedback. I have decided to just take the plunge and get both. The F-Pace first, replacing the Cayenne at the end of June, and then as fall approaches, find a sweet F-type V8, perhaps a 2015, low mileage, RED, to replace the XKR. I can do a cash deal on the F-Pace, and maybe pull a home equity loan or go with financing for the F-type. Why the hell not satisfy both wants, life is too short to compromise, and as they say, you cannot take it with you. What has pushed me to this decision is that I want a new SUV/CUV, and this video of the 2014 (which I am sure you all have seen) has literally haunted me. You only need to watch the first six seconds (after the ad) to be convinced...

Haha; that video was at least part of the reason I bought my V8S. :-)

Cheers,
Dave

^^ I have pored over dozens of reviews, some of them seemed really nit-picky, like one that complained about the differences in fonts between the instrument panel and buttons, but overall they seem to be really positive. I especially like the one where it goes head-to-head with the 911 S, and even though the reviewer put the 911 on top (but not by much), there is something to be said about a car that even comes close to the 911 at some $30-$50K less in price. Dang...

You could probably negotiate a better deal if you do both at the same time from the same dealer.

Not to hijack my own thread, but I see on your sig that you have a Z.. ! I have owned two, this one, in the very bad scan of a very old, bad photo, was my baby for several years. I added the headlight covers, front air dam, and rear spoiler; then had it painted a dark metallic blue. Man, I loved that car. The second one was a 280 ZX (the ones with the tiny back seat) that I bought in Germany while stationed there, it was European spec, and would cruise the autobahn all day at 145 mph. Unfortunately, I totaled it, but saved the hood emblem (second pic). Your signature has brought up some great memories!

I think I read every F type review and watched every video; overall reviewers were really positive. There were a few who had some negative comments and though I don't think the car is perfect by any means, some were clearly biased. A couple biases I noticed in particular were some that were bent on comparing the F type to the E type rather than the current competition (which is really silly for a whole plethora of reasons) and a couple of guys that had clear biases (one Porsche aficinado and one guy who clearly had a love on for the Mercedes AMG GT) Other than that, just generic comments about aesthetics; the same stuff some reviewers liked, some didn't.....most of that was interior stuff i.e. some liked the gold accents, some didn't, some liked the grab handle, some didn't ..., it was almost unanimous with the exterior.

I like that particular test between an F type R and a 911 Turbo S; the racecar driver clearly had a preference for the F type but the other guy doing the video wouldn't let it end on that note...
Though the 911 bested it on the track, it's pretty impressive that you can compare an F type to a Porsche costing almost twice as much in the first place. ($214,800.00 vs. $118,500.00 Canadian base prices) www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQCQUtEHkf4

Cheers,
Dave

I don't know how I missed that review but others convinced me on my 2014 V8S! Then I test drove it and realized I had just hit the jackpot.

If you're going to finance one, make it the F-Pace. There's an $800 incentive for early buyers who finance through JLR. (You can always pay it off early, if you can/wish.) I doubt you'd get any financing incentives on a used F-Type.

BTW, I started by buying my "S" used and it worked out really well. I'm in discussion now with the same dealer on ordering a F-Pace for my wife. She's insists she needs it to be an S as well. I may have to move up to an R.
