Arrow My SVR build thread, yes I am going to mod it.

Hi there

Picked up an SVR a few weeks ago, sold my Mustang, then Golf R and was looking for a replacement and the rivals were 911, R8 V10 or AMG GT and for me the SVR was the better car. I like loud both looks and noise wise and the SVR really ticked those boxes.

Here it is when I picked the car up from Jaguar:

So its an SVR, uprated sound system, winter pack, power tailgate, carbon roof, carbon package, auto high beam assist and probably some other bits I forgot. Absolute must for me was carbon fixed spoiler, carbon pack and ultra blue colour. Carbon roof was a nice bonus, never a bad thing to loose weight up top, around 5kg lighter than glass roof which most F Types have.

After a couple of weeks ownership, I started to notice really poor panel gaps, after some research I discover Jaguar essentially build great cars badly, as I am not afraid of spannering I made the decision to fix the poor alignment myself:

Oh and a money shot:

Alignment sorted:

I am using the car as my daily and its being trouble free, though I really took a dislike to the black gloss wheels and red calipers, never liked gloss black wheels on any car, this one is no different. So those had to go and my original intention was to paint the calipers yellow, but then it was suggested could be accused of copying ceramics, so what colour goes best with blue, well either blue or orange, I took the dangerous route, went orange.

Some pictures with satin grey wheels, orange brakes and black wheel centres:

The subtle changes I feel have made a great car look even better, I am now really happy and have put my own little stamp on the car with the orange brakes and black wheel centres.

I also had Jaguar update my amplifier version as the bass sounded blown at low volume and muddy at high volume, the new version has improved the sound quality vastly which is great.

My next plan is to get the paint corrected/enhanced as their are a few swirls and that is about it really.

In a year or so I may start looking at tuning options as how this car deploys 575PS even in the wet is hugely impressive, just goes:

I didn't expect to like the orange calipers, but I think they look great with the blue and the grey wheels.

Don't think that's sarcasm. I think folks are mostly interested to see what you're doing. If not, they don't have to read it.

No! I am happy that you are doing this! I also have a build thread of my car but not many other members on here do them (compared to all of my my previous car forums).

Ah yes likewise.

Seems modding and tuning is really not so popular on Jaguar as a brand, certainly the newer stuff anyway and the F-type seems very few owners modify them which is apparent by how few tuners there is also for them.

Don't think its price either, looks at brands like Ferrari, Audi there is a huge modding scene, just seems modifying Jaguar is not the thing to do, but I can't help myself.

But admittedly the SVR drives so well stock, no real need to change stuff, so my focus is just to make it look how I want it looking and enjoy it. Might give it a few more ponies in the future as 575HP is real nice, but 650HP would be even nicer.

I think a lot of that has to do with the types of cars that Jaguar produced in the past, usually aimed at the "older gentleman" who wouldn't have an interest in modifying. For example, would you have considered Jaguar without the F Type? I certainly wouldn't have.

The F Type is a recent total change in direction from them attracting a younger crowd - I am sure if Jaguar keep on this path more modifying options will start opening up for the brand.

Orange calipers look great, orange being the 'opposite' of blue on the color wheel.

Upgraded to Michelin's as well with the new wheels...

The license plate censors must be looser there for you to get away with a WTF plate! Looks brilliant!

I am on my side of the road and if I needed to stop by the truck I could do so, if you know how to drive you look all the way down the road, not just 2 feet in front of your bonnet. As such launched once car passed the truck and continually checking ahead to see if I can safely pass the truck once closer to it or have to stop.

Perfectly safe road to play on, plus its also private, access only.

Hi there

Had the SVR professionally detailed yesterday by Oliver Sinclair owner of Driveby Detailing LTD in Stoke-on-Trent:

A full correction and 3 stage enhancement (paint cleanse, sealant & swissvax).

Just as the M3, over the moon with the results.

Wow! The problem with a good detailing is you just don't want to take it out anymore.

Seems there are a few members here that shun street-racing and such things. Awhile back, I had posted a video of me racing a 458. He/they must’ve had a heart attack watching it. (Eye roll) Anyway, do what makes u happy. Don’t worry about the hate and negativity that some members like to project. I for one, liked your video. Thumbs up!

I should've started a build thread, but I am so far into the build now. But I am taking CF making classes on the side, once I get good, going to start replacing pieces with CF.

It’s not too late! Just start one where you’re at now with a mod list and a few pictures and go from there.
