Oil Change Time Again
It's that time again and I was wondering if any other oils, beside the meets Jag spec Castrol oil, have come on the market in the last year that may be a bit less money?
I’ve been reading up on this.... The Jag specific Castrol seems very difficult to get outside a dealership, but you can find Motul Specific 5122 0w20 from a few online vendors. There are a few other Euro oils out there - Yacco and Ravenol, imported by a few Euro performance shops..... but Motul at least I’ve heard of before.
There is a Mobil 1 ESP x2 oil available in the EU but not here. I wonder if US fuel formulation (eg sulphur content) has something to do with the oils offered in our market..... I wonder what the average Jiffy Lube or Indy Shop would do when a Jag or Range Rover pulls in for an oil change?

I think Hades mentioned most/all of the ones in this thread...

These guys sell a German Brand oil that they say meets Jaguar specs.
They have kits for various F-Type models and years here, both oil and filter.
The RWD kits have an extra quart of oil - might be worth getting for the difference in price.
They spec 5w20 for earlier model year cars, 0w20 for later it seems:
About $100 shipped.

I received the following response from ExxonMobil about Mobil 1 ESP X2 in the USA:
Sorry for the long wait – this took a bit of research.
So it turns out this Mobil 1 ESP X2 0W-20 is already imported into the United States, but for sale at Porsche dealerships. This looks like the only hope for you to purchase an approved oil in the US.
These are the question I asked... Didn't get a detailed response around STJLR.51.5122.
1. Mobil 1 does have an oil meeting this specification: Mobil 1 ESP X2, available in the UK. Is there any reason why I should not run this oil in the USA (e.g. fuel formulation) if I can find it available or imported?
2. Is there anything critical about STJLR.51.5122 that should prevent me from running a regular API SN synthetic 0w-20 which is commonly available?
3. Will Mobil bring the ESP X2 or another STJLR.51.5122 qualified oil to the US market?
