Pops and Cracks
Hello community. We received our 2017 F type R today and it’s fantastic. Our short drive did not yield the cracks and pops we expected. Went from Drive to Sport in Dynamic mode and she pops a little but nothing like we expected. We tested a coupe and that thing was loud and with plenty of pops ( ours is a vert) Disclaimer: This is our first day so we are not sure of the car yet. Is there anything I’m missing?

is there a way to reverse the update should that be the issue?
It is technically possible to revert the software back to the previous version (Dealer). Most dealers are not keen on doing that, and may actually not do it. If you end up getting a tune (such as VAP), you will have all your pops back and can even make it more aggressive if you ask Chris (VAP) to do so.

Hopefully, you will be able to have it reversed! I recently had service, and expressed no exhaust tampering! Fortunately I was obliged! Congrats on your R, please let us see pics, when you have a chance!
Day 2 with the R and I can’t tell you how fantastic this beast is. No other car sounds and looks like it

Though mine in D and dynamic does get raucous up the rev range ....
If the loud button is on, get it up just past 3000 rev and then lift off, that is normally the sweet spot. You can have some fun dabbing the accelerator as it drops back to 3000, this just keeps the pops going :-)
What are the pops and cracks? I’ve heard two things. One, raw fuel is dumped out during the exhaust stroke and ignites in the catalytic converter. Two, the ignition fires very late in the power stroke and is still igniting the fuel mixture when the exhaust valve opens. Either (or neither) of these correct?
