Question Rattling noise in back from spoiler at 70mph and over

Hi All, it seems whenever the rear spoiler deploys over 70 there is a rather loud rattling/flapping noise coming from the back. I suspect it must be spoiler related since it doesn't happen below 70 unless the spoiler is already active. Any ideas/similar experiences on what it could be?

I have not/had not experienced this (and now have a fixed wing)., but based on your description, the first thing I would check is to be sure the wing (panel) is securely attached to the base? There are 4 Torx bolts that hold it in place. I have a few pictures and info in my DIY that may help...HERE.

It could also be the rear lid latch being loose....When the wing deploys and adds more pressure, it could cause it to resonate and rattle?

Good luck,
DC

The flapping noise you are referring to is adhesive failing on the rubber seals that run along the sides of the hatch area. For me, it was going above 75-80mph. The wind will catch under the rubber seals and cause it rattle/flap. I was able to easily lift the seal with a finger. I circled the affected areas in the photo below For me it was passenger rear seal that was flapping the most but I did the below fix to both sides.

1 Get some blue painters tape
2 Apply tape where the seal touches the body
3 Go for drive
4 Noise should be gone
5 Remove tape. Get some clear silicone and apply a few dots along under the seal
6 Press firmly down on seal to ensure the silicone adheres to the body
7 Apply painters tape over seal so that silicone adheres and cures
8 Remove tape after 24 hours

I was thinking of this also, but when you said rattling, I am thinking of metal sound? Is it a subtle noise, or rattling (metal) noise?

If the seals have lost adhesion, it is easy to tell...you can easily pull them away with your fingers...

I can confirm that I had the same rattling type sound going over 70mph and re-gluing the weather stripping with 3M weather stripping adhesive got rid of the noise 100%

It's a design feature to protect your drivers license from too many tickets.

Mine did this and was due to the seals being pulled up during the wrap job on my car. Put some low strength 3m adhesive and all was good.
