Default Removing light under door

Hi All,

A little help please. I was able to remove the light from the housing under the drivers door. How does the light disconnect from the harness I want to install a set of ghost /puddle lights. I do not see any clip to push in or depress to get harness to release?

I do not want to break fitting into connector harness. Thanks!

From memory you push in and turn and then they pop out, like a bayonet fitting. It's been a while and I cant remember for sure, but I think that was it.

In mIne they're just a push fit, no twisting needed (unless you want to break things!). Other MYs may be different, of course, as we know!

The bulb is a push/pull deal. For the harness just twist the black socket, where the bulb used to be, counter clock wise and the harness will come out of the hole in the direction of where the wires are. Most all interior lights use this kind of system.

Yep, that is for the OEM bulb (which I replaced years ago with an LED before fitting the logo lights), but the logo lights are more than just the bulb they are the whole kit and caboodle, bulb plus wiring plus housing. No twisting to swap for a logo light!

OZ, I am not quite sure what you are referring to as the question was “ I do not see any clip to push in or depress to get harness to release.”

So, let’s try this again. You have the housing dangling outside it’s receptacle with the bulb removed. Grab the light assembly where the bulb was in and just twist that black socket counter clockwise and the harness will pull away from housing. Now, on my puddle lights they came with wire extensions as shown in the photo below, and I chose to use them so that I would not get any wires crimped when I placed the puddle light inside the door. If you need a picture of the original socket I can dig my old housing out and post it here. Hope this helps….

I think we have our wires crossed here!
(terrible pun fully intended)
So far I have fitted three sets of the logo puddle lights and they all look much the same as the pic you have posted, with the exact same wiring piece.
Like you I used those pieces to prevent the existing wires from being stretched or crimped.
I was simply trying to differentiate between removing the globe and/or the wire from the OEM housing and fitting one of these logo lights, as the method/procedure it entirely different and could confuse the OP. And before I replied to him I fished out my OEM lights to double check, and lo and behold they still have the multi-chip SMD LED globes I fitted in them.
The main point I was trying to make for him is "NO TWISTING"!!!

Ok, third time will be a champ…..

This photo shows the original light assembly with original bulb…..

To remove the black bulb housing you must twist the black bulb housing counter clock wise and you can pull the housing out of the clear plastic receptacle as shown below.

The clear plastic receptacle will then look like photo below…..

OK, are we now on the same page?

Yes, I did exactly that to replace the OEM bulb with an LED.
But as I keep trying to explain, there is absolutely no need to do that to replace the OEM housing (and bulb) with one of the projector logo lights in question, in fact it would be a waste of time and effort. All ya gotta do is pull the existing "square" wiring plug out of the OEM fitting and slot it into your new projector logo fitting.

Agreed…..

I am just trying to answer his question… perhaps when he gets ready to install the puddle lights things will become self-evident…..

I just replaced mine today for Leaper projectors, took about a minute per door with no tools at all.

Piece of cake .

Me too. Although, it was a challenge to see how to get the connecter off of the OEM light fixture, I think I had to squeeze a little clip but it wasn't all the hard.
