Revers Camera Problem
Lately when I first start my car (2017 F-Type Convertible) in the morning I get a 'Camera System Fault' warning on my dash display. The reverse camera is inoperative either in reverse or when trying to manually turn it on from console. It seems to go away and become functional after driving for 20 minutes or so then is fine for the rest of the day. I have not yet contacted the dealer service. Has anyone experienced this and if so, what was found to be the problem?
Since the car actually displayed an error message, theres a good chance that its been logged and has been stored. Considering that its intermittent, i'd say that its a loose cable or ground somewhere. Dealer should be able to pull the error code diagnose pretty easily.
update... I took car into the dealer... fault cleared (as usual after ~30min of driving). Dealer could not duplicate fault and no error codes had been thrown. They kept car over night (inside). Next morning still no faults. Kept another night and this time duplicated my conditions... kept it outside (chilly) and started it early (6:30am) in the morning. Fault was confirmed upon start up!! Hurray! Now, what to do to fix it.... I'll keep you posted.
Dealer inspected all cable connectors from camera to back of head unit... all good. Ended up replacing camera and, so far, all is good! I can't say enough good things about the team at BMC in San Francisco!

Lo dudo mucho....the fact that after 20 minutes of driving the camera in your car becomes operative strongly suggests that the battery is the problem - insufficient voltage until the car has been run long enough to add charge to the battery. Further, the camera on the F-Type is not mounted on the trunk lid (as it is on the XE in the video), so abrasion of the cable is very unlikely.
