Dave,
If you haven't done so already, you should put a link to that dropbox in the F-Type 'HOW TO' Guides and Information sticky.

Good thought. I know I've posted it somewhere, but probably in random threads.

First oil change by me... DONE.!
Easy stuff, with the mityvac. i pulled out over 8 liters, so the previous oil change added to much oil!!

Hope there was no problems or damage created.

How much is too much causing damage or problems? any problems for the future?
what type of problems?

I added 7.5 quarts, plus 1 can of MOA from B&G products. should be good to go for another 6500 miles. She really fly's now!

Happy Motoring to all...

I seem to remember reading on this forum that Jaguar state different oil quantities for awd vs rwd (at least on V8)

Lots of debate about electronic oil level gauge.

In default mode it will only give a reading after approximately ten minutes delay after stopping engine.

However I learnt from this forum that with bonnet (hood) raised if you press cruise control cancel button twice in quick succession it will switch to immediate reading mode.

From observation the bar graph indicator is made up of several segments, so whether adding or removing oil the level indicator will remain unchanged and then "jump" one segment up ir down.

Glad it went well. 8 litres, that is what 9 quarts you pulled out? Last guy must have been in a hurry and not extracted all the oil.

Sometimes you can find a good deal on Amazon or eBay, but most time it's cheapest to get it from my dealer at $11/liter.

I'm about to order this kit. 9 qts is more than I need, but Unhingd confirms this is the correct filter. Won't use the drain plug, but it's cheap (and don't know if it fits our cars anyway.) This site is Land Rover only, but same engine. Oil is out of stock, but they expect it this week. They also sell oil by the qt.
Castrol Edge Oil Change Kit For LR4 And Range Rover Full Size, Sport

Interestingly, I just found this in the V6 Repair manual that OzXFR uploaded...

Engine Oil - Vehicles built up to 2015: SAE 5W20 WSS-M2C925-A or SAE 0W20 STJLR.51.5122

Engine Oil - Vehicles built from 2015: SAE 0W20 STJLR.51.5122

I use 5W/20 as I don't drive it in the winter.

There was a listing for just 3 bottles of the 0W-20 on eBay up until I grabbed them this morning. Complements the 5 I already have in the garage. 0w and 5w-20 are the only viscocities I have seen recommended for the F-Type, though I am positive that 5w-30 with the right spec will do no harm but may make cold weather starting a bit slower. It will no doubt also affect fuel economy.

.
Or you can simply check the oil level before you start the (cold) engine again.
The purpose of the 10 minute wait is just to allow the oil to drain completely into the sump - the level after the 10 minute wait will be the same level the next morning! The "10 minute" rule is not to be considered some sort of magical element.

Agreed, I could have made my post a little clearer.

I regularly check oil level and tyre pressure before starting the engine, sometimes daily, at least once per week.
