Default snow mode and restart

We all know that the car restarts automatically in Dynamic Mode if driven within 6 hours or so in Dynamic Mode. After a longer interval Dynamic Mode is canceled on restart.
I've noticed, however, that if I drive in Winter Mode (snowflake symbol), the car will automatically restart in that mode however long the interval—6 hours or 6 days? Is that the case with yours?

It will stay in snow mode. Funny thing is that my Range Rover Sport Supercharged does the same thing. Dynamic mode goes away after 6 hours of the car being off but snow mode stays on till I change it.

If only Eco mode would do the same.

Just unplug ECO, works like a charm.

Since the car was certified under US EPA mileage regs with eco-mode on, it must be the default mode.

As I've noted here several times before, I'm surprised that we still have a button to turn off a system that improves fuel economy. I think that's a "loophole" that will soon be closed as fuel economy requirements tighten over time.

Default ECO non-functional in cold weather

Have any of you noticed that ECO will not shut down the engine when it is below freezing outside?

Mine certainly does operate below freezing as it did yesterday morning w/ the temp at 20şF, but it will not do so until the engine has reached normal operating temperature. It will also restart the engine before releasing the brake if heat is being called for. Similarly, in the summer, the engine will restart when the cabin thermostat calls for AC.

The start-stop systems in our Mercedes and Jeep operate exactly the same way.

That is the way I would have expected it to be. However, on the two seriously cold (~20f) mornings of this week after my 30 mile run to Baltimore, the car would not turn off by itself. Perhaps the coolant is just not getting warm enough for the computer to recognize a warm engine. Doesn't bother me as long as it continues to operate properly under typical conditions.

Yes, guys, I actually missed it when it wasn't available.

I'm pretty sure (98%) that the handbook mentions this (both the temporary Dynamic mode and 'permanent' snow mode).

Try driving in snow mode and then turn it off. See what happens.

Just make sure that the go pedal isn't pressed too hard when you do.
