Spoiler - F-Type 2017
Hi
just purchased a 2017 F-Type with 5000 Km on the clock. Just been out in town so probably hit 60km in speed. I was in sport and dynamic mode. The spoiler came up and the spoiler led light came on on the Spoiler button in the console. When I parked and turned off the engine the spoiler stayed up. Do I have an electrical problem or have I missed something in the manual which says that you have to return to automatic for the spoiler to lower. I thought the spoiler did not go up until you hit around 100km???
Thanks for any help you can give me. (Under warranty if it has to go back to Jag).

Welcome to the forums JT,
I've moved your question from Canada Region to F-Type forum for advice from members here with the same model.
(technical question should be posted in the appropriate Model forum and geographically relevant ones in the Region forum.)

Sounds like you may have an issue. You don't say which body type you have but the spoiler is designed to deploy at 70mph (112kph?) in the coupe and at 60mph (96kph?) in the convertible. It drops at 50mph (80kph?) in the coupe and 40mph (65kph?) in the convertible.
As you've only just got the car it could be the battery isn't fully charged and low battery voltage has been known to manifest itself in bizarre ways on these cars so I'd suggest giving it a full charge and take it from there. Good luck!

Or...could it be that the spoiler button was pushed at some point...would that leave the spoiler raised after the engine was shut down?
But as has been mentioned, a battery at less than full charge can result in a variety of odd symptoms. If this car is not going to be used frequently and for long runs (I am foreseeing the Calgary winter) it is definitely advisable to invest in a CTEK battery maintainer - and to use it.

I had this same issue a year or so ago on MY2018 coupe. It started off intermittently -- but eventually I found that I was having to manually lower it every time I had been on the highway by pushing the spoiler button after parking. The dealer fixed it -- but it literally just started happening again today. Going to bring the car to dealership to investigate.

In my case, the spoiler ultimately ended up in the open position and wouldn't retract. After about 3-4 days, I had made an appointment at the dealership but still hadn't gone yet when (as murphy's law would have it) it magically retracted. Then it wouldn't actually deploy at high speeds. I was on the highway (without prejudice) going fast and was surprised that it hadn't deployed nor was there a speed limiter kicking in (which I thought was supposed to happen as a safety measure??). And then, a day or two before my actual appointment at the dealership, it started to work as usual. I decided to keep my appointment (wanted to investigate another exhaust issue which I'll post elsewhere) and they reset the software for the spoiler (or so they said?). There was no error code that they found so there wasn't more they said they could do. Not sure if your suggestion would have worked. I was driving the car less often because of the pandemic lock down -- and it magically started to work when I began driving more often. Who knows...
