Could it possibly be worse than the one that comes in the car? I'd rather go buy a road atlas than use that piece of junk. It's failed every single time I've tried to use it.

I don't use inControl anymore at all, too many crashes and nothing useful as far as apps.

That's interesting, I don't see it in mine.

Open the InControl app on your phone and you should see a list of all the new apps in the top row.

Other new apps include Tile, Accuweather, ParkWhiz and of course, Magellan.

Do you have an iPhone, I have; Tile, ParkWhiz and iHeartRadio on Samsung, no Magellan.

I didn't think inControl was compatible with any platform other than iPhone. What others work?

I think I used inControl for about a week before I got tired of the crashes... and I still remember where I park my car so really, nothing usable there anyway. If the music player would work and recognize playlists and/or genres, I might try it again.... But most of the time I have to connect and disconnect my phone couple times before it even starts working....

Truth is, all car apps on all systems I've seen thus far are disappointing, but I haven't seen Apple CarPlay. Nonetheless, it seems to me to be way more user-friendly to use the phone itself, especially if you have it mounted on a mag-mount in line-of-sight.

You'll most likely be disappointed by carplay as well. My experience with it was enough to quell my interest in upgrading my 2013 Volt to a 2016. Hard crashes that often freeze out other functions, not just audio or maps but climate as well.

Never had a crash on mine. Only time it's ever failed me was when I had Bluetooth locked out on the iPhone: user error.

Yeah, I think it was originally made for iPhone, and quickly ported to Android. I have hard time just to get it turn on seamlessly, and if I want to use something in my phone, Waze or Escort Live for example, inControl needs to exit and won't turn back on without all kinds of error messages.
