System shutdown during acceleration (infotainment, gearbox,...)
Today I have experienced twice a super weird behavior. I was accelerating about 80% throttle, have tiny wheel slip, and the car went crazy. I have replicated it twice:
- I got ABS fault the first time, parking brake fault the second time (something like this, is stayed on the display for like nanosecond
- infotainment shutdown and reset, centre console closing down
- gearbox went out of gear, could not select gear until stationary
- engine running
After shutting the car down and start again I could not replicate it further. My battery is almost new.
Any ideas what is happening? Thanks

The only time anything like that happened to me it was a battery terminal connection, and you mention an almost new battery. The posts are tapered, and if the terminal clamp is pinched all the way, the bolt can be snug but not actually clamping on the post. See if you can wiggle the cables at all. If you can, you need to loosen the bolt and spread the clamp, then reinstall. When the bolt is snugged, there needs to be a gap between the ends of the clamp.
The car just after a service, so maybe the shop disconnect it and then badly reinstall. Thank you for the suggestion, I will check it. Battery has like 10 months to it, but the service job could be it.
Are they any grounding cables to check elsewhere?

There are ground points that could be checked also but that's a quest I've not needed to take, so other than the obvious points in the trunk area I don't have any pointers. When I had the glitching it was over harsh bumps, and as soon as I got home the first thing I checked was the battery terminals. Since I got it in one try, I fixed it right away and treated myself to a celebratory Cold One.
OK so the + terminal was tighten to oblivion but I could still take the cable out by hand. So I loose it and re-tighten lower down the terminal. Sadly, I won't help, as I got another hiccup. This time only infotainment screen and HIDs turned off for a split second. Again when I was accelerating with a wheel slip.
But I cannot replicate it 100%. I can do 10x pulls and all is fine, then randomly on 11 I got this.

Yes tight. I am more inclined to earth/ground problems, since everything starts happening after the car was at Jaguar dealer to change front headlight so they had to disassemble the front end and near terminal.

Wow! brake systems shutting down is not cool at all. I would not expect a bulk power system problem to only affect this group.
I'm inclined to go with your thoughts on the recent repair work. You really need a decent scanner to see what's happening.
It sounds like trouble on one of the CANBUS networks. I know it sounds odd, but they connected each through the infotainment system. I think I'd look as much as possible at the area he was working, maybe jiggle a few connectors or pull, look at all the pins, then reseat.
If you have an ohm meter... you can quickly check the high and medium speed buses for shorts and opens. First remove power, then measure ohms between the high and low wires, you should read a little over 60 ohms. You can get them on the OBD connector. I don't recall the exact names, but something like HSHI HSLO MSHI MSLO. For High Speed and Medium Speed.
I think the list of things you mentioned are on the High-Speed bus. There are several collision sensors in the nose area, they are also on the high-speed bus. There's a lot in there, errors are hard to avoid

@J444G Take it back and have them remove the new headlight to fully inspect that area. Make sure they didn't jostle the MAF sensor wires. Make sure all connectors are fully clicked in.
There is probably a crushed wire or damage to the insulation of a wire with exposed wire intermittently touching the frame.
Any error codes?

Search around on the forum and online a bit too. I'm SURE someone else had exactly the same issue in the past. May have been a few years now. But I can't remember if there was a resolution posted. Definitely sounds like a dealer visit. If tech has seen it before it should be a quick diagnostic
From what you are telling us about the occurrence of the ABS light and other fault lights coming on during a hard launch with wheel spin indicates an issue with the ABS wheel speed sensor circuit. If you have a scan tool you can narrow this down, if not, it comes down to a good guess. I am sure this system is used on other Jaguar cars and SUVs, If you Google the ABS sensor issue on a Jaguar F type, there are multiple hits, you have to take the time to read through them and see if any of the symptoms are similar and what the fix is.I spent a few minutes and Google listed all the faults you are having and more.
I deal with the ABS systems on our work trucks quit a bit, so I have the necessary tools to track these issues down, the most common is a loose or corroded connector at the wheel sensor.

I did, and suggested the battery terminals because that fixed my problem. He found the same thing, but obviously has another issue too. Since the dealer was working on the electrical system the battery terminal problem was their doing and they should be the ones double-checking everything else.
Not picking on you, but you have to see the irony of this.
