Default Tire Warning

Had to order a new set of front tires at 11K. Like the Tesla the Jag apparently has the camber set for cornering so the inside tread wears far faster than the outside. Check your inside tread or you could have a blow out. I took mine in for an early oil change otherwise would have missed this. Also be aware thee dealers want to do this earlier than necessary. In my case they were right about the fronts but the rears have a lot of life left yet they wanted to replace all 4. I'm switching from Pirelli to Michelin, never been a fan of Pirelli.

Also the temporary fix for the spring noise in back has failed but Jaguar has come up with a permanent fix. It just takes forever to get it out of Europe. If you had this problem (V8s) you may want to have your dealer order it before you take your car in for the first service. Figure they need at least 2 weeks lead time (they've had my car a week and it wasn't enough).

Had the paint fixed and the panels realigned (teach me to get one of the first 100 cars built) now the car looks much better. Only issue remaining is the gas cap door that doesn't lock. No joy for that yet.

Rob,

1) where is your pain peeling? Mine is in the seams behind the doors. They say they will “touch them up”.
2) I have Continental tires and the 18". Is this issue just with Pirelli's?
3) I am told by Jaguar USA the gas cap is a dead issue. No fix in the USA.

Thanks,

scott

On the plastic panels in front of the doors. It's a combined problem with the ultimate black not sticking well to the plastic and too tight a panel fit which is causing rubbing. The front lower panel set wasn't aligned properly either (problem with the first 100 cars or so) and they fixed that as well.

The tire wear appears to be a camber issue. Pirelli tires tend to wear fast as well but I'd keep my eyes on that inside tread and post if it either isn't or is an issue for you. I expect it is a car alignment issue but it could be only the V8S or just my car. So far this is a sample of one.

Was told the same thing on the gas cap but reported it anyway. Hopefully they'll address it on the line for future cars.

.
Would you know if the F-type rear wheel camber is also NON-adjustable, like my XK, XF and XJL? Would be nice if Jaguar provided full camber adjustment, after all with dedicated sports cars it is almost a "must have".

Dont let them "touch up" the paint. The panels need removed and repainted per factory request. Touch up will not hold
Just FYI

Most of the time the issue is actually not camber, but too much toe in the front. I highly suggest getting an alignment and taking out all of the toe in the front. Set it to zero. For the rear try 3/32 toe in on each side to help with oversteer on corner exit.

Interesting thread on the topic:

what causes more inside tire wear, excessive camber or toe in ? - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Default Perilli P Zero excessive wear

I discovered to my surprise that at 7k miles the 295/30 ZR 20 rear tires are excessively worn on the inside and need to be replaced. The 2014 F Type V8S has never been raced (drag or track). That is just plain unacceptable on a new car which is not due for even its first service yet. There must be something wrong with the suspension set up for normal street driving to get that kind of wear. Yes I know the tires are soft but they should wear evenly.

I agree. Don't touch them up! The paint is not the real problem, it is the way the panel fits to the car that causes the paint issue. Also make sure the dealer is aware of the issue and does not put the panels back the same way. If it does incorrectly, your paint problem will show up again.
