I am a new member here looking to join the ranks as an owner. I've been looking for a F-Type R for some time and would like some input on a car I found and put a deposit on a couple days ago. I called the dealership and confirmed the car is new and has not been titled. I understand it does have 82 miles however.
I am writing for the forums input on this one - do you think the deal is too good to be true or is the combination of color(Dark Sapphire), interior(Panda) and 82 miles enough to drive the price down on an R this far, $80k.
Is the deal too good to be true or should I close the deal?
Any other thoughts are appreciated as well: desirability or lack thereof of the color and interior?
I've seen a few low mileage 2015 Rs in the mid $70k area but rarely 2016 AWD models under $80k as of yet. If this is a new 2016 car then IMO $80k is a great price.
There are used car dealers asking $99k for 2015s, so pricing is all over the place. Normally you expect a deal to be more likely from a private party.
I cant comment on the price but that is a lovely colour in the metal, especially with the LEDs on. Personally I think it would look better with cf vents and black grill surrounds and window trim, but that is just personal taste. And the interior looks nice too, I've been in a range rover with that combo and it was very classy.
What is MSRP? Does it have vision pack? Any chance dealership bought it, and warranty has started, even if they just did it? Jag has some $14k in incentives right now for an R. What is build date? Are you trading a car?
The MSRP is $107,283, vision pack is included. I did ask if the car had been previously titled and they replied that it had not, but I will defiantly follow-up to see if the dealership purchased the vehicle.
I am not trading a vehicle, why do you ask?
Unsure on build date, do you ask to determine how long the dealer has had the car?
When TOPIx (https://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/) is up again (this past week it has been unavailable/unstable more often than it has been up) you can register and put the VIN of SAJWJ6DL9GMK28730 in (or just the end bit of GMK28730), and then click on the little details icon next to the car summary that appears. That will give you the build sheet options for the vehicle. The build date and whether it has been sold will also be available from the summary screen.

Finally managed to get in and grab the dates/spec.
The build date was 2 July 2015. The warranty start date was 2 May 2016 which was when it was registered with JLR as first sold, so if it has not been registered with your state body before then it looks like the dealer bought it themselves but didn't register it. That means you would be buying used not new, hence part of the initial depreciation has been taken by the dealer.

I don't know what the "vision pack" includes in the US market, but I note it is does not have the heated windscreen. In the UK the vision pack is the windscreen, auto high beam headlamps and adaptive lighting. That car has the last two but not the windscreen (but that may well be a market difference).

Anything else I should/can look into?

I'd take it at that price. Test drive of course, but honestly I wouldn't care at that price with a warranty in place.
If you don't want it let me know, I'll recommend it to a friend.
Good price, for sure. Color? Not bad, but if it were me, I'd get one with black pack and diamond turned Gyrodine wheels. I like the interior.
Overall, I'd say go for it! Warranty is still there, and with $27K in discounts you will be ahead of the depreciation game...well, somewhat.
I've seen some awesome deals like this floating around... thats the only reason I pulled the the trigger on my IRR w/ carbon ceramics... such a good deal I couldn't leave the lot without it!
Looks like there are some great deals on the 2-6 R. On a related current thread (title of %off msrp) the user Keysh2oboy said:
I got a NEW 2016 F-Type R with MSRP sticker of ~$109,500 about 10 days ago. They offered $20,000 off. And I got the $3,000 cash back as well. So that brought it down to $86,500
And they threw in a 6 yr / 100,000 mile warranty (instead of the standard 5 yr/60,000 mile warranty)
The MSRP is $107,283, vision pack is included. I did ask if the car had been previously titled and they replied that it had not, but I will defiantly follow-up to see if the dealership purchased the vehicle.

Xdave has the relevant info you need. The dealership purchased the car and received a kickback from jag for the sale. You are 3 months down on warranty. This is similar to situation when I purchased my car. Seems like dealer is selling at invoice less all incentives and kickback. My state charges tax on manufacturer rebates so be aware if yours does. If you like the car it's a reasonable deal. See if you can get the extended warranty thrown in for same price.
I asked about the trade to see if anything was clouding deal and/or if Jag loyalty rebate may be in effect.
