Default Transfert Case oil and Spark Plugs

Hi,
I'm french, so sorry for my english

I would like to change the spark plugs ("Bougies") in my car myself. A Jaguar Ftype AWD R V8 2016.
I Would need your help about this. Do you have any diagrams or pictures ? Is it easy ?

Another question about my next appointment at jaguar. My car has 29 000/30 000km and he suggested changing the transfert case oil ! Isn't it too early ? your opinions ?

Thank's a lot

Welcome the the forums JKY-TYPE,

I shall remember "bougies" for the time when I can return to your country.

The first challenge in changing them is to FIND them! They are hidden beneath the plastic engine cover. This is secured on rubber grommets and is removed by pulling gently upwards from the rear then front edges :

The engine is "coil on plug" so each coil (item 4) must be removed to access the plug beneath (item 3):

A single bolt secures the coil:

Not difficult and doesn't require many tools. However, take great care disconnecting the coil electrical harness connectors.

I'll leave comments and advice on transfer case oil to members with this model.

Graham

I have V6 AWD. The transfer case fluid was renewed at 23,648 miles in January 2020. This was a 48,000 mile /36 month service.
I wish service intervals were mileage related instead of time, apart from brake fluid obviously.

Here is a DIY I did on both. Should help. I changed my Transfer Case Oil at less miles than you. More preventative. Does it HAVE to be changed yet? - No.

Please remove the transmission tunnel brace with a ratchet and torque to 50nm with a torque wrench afterwards. No impact gun when removing bolts to access transfer case fill and drain plugs! you will strip the threads in the aluminum frame like my dealership did!

Completely agree! I learned this the hard way. I was at least able to tighten the bolts back up. Guess the next guy will have to worry about this.

TheRock88. First off, thanks a ton for your DIYs. They have been super helpful in helping me figure out how to change my transmission fluid and transfer case fluid. I realize your car is a 2017 Ftype R AWD. I was wondering if you know if the fluids used for your transmission and transfer case change would apply to my 2015 F type R RWD? I have tried to confirm but have been unsuccessful since all the documentation I have come across refers to V6 versions or AWD V8 versions. I am assuming they are the same but wanted to see if you knew. If not no worries. Just thought I would ask. But thanks again and keep the DIYs coming. They are great!

For a 2015 F-Type R RWD you only need diff and transmission fluids.
The specified fluid for the diff is Castrol BOT 720 which is hard to find although there are alternatives such as the Motul Gear 300 LS I and others have used.
The specified trans fluid for all auto F-Types (they all have the ZF 8HP70) is Lifeguard 8 which is very expensive but again there are cheaper alternatives, search is your friend.

Thanks for the reply OzXFR. Makes total sense since its rear wheel drive. Didn't even think about that till you mentioned it. And thanks for confirming the transmission type. Good to know that all F types are the same. Makes it easy. Ill take a look for the Castrol Bot fluid but thanks again. Greatly appreciated!!

Forgot to add, another alternative diff fluid is Redline 75W-90 full synthetic see here for example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/11466538266...cAAOSwSBFgGvhz
