Default Undercarriage rust

Hello all,

I seem to remember that there was mention of a Jaguar document referring to repairs of abnormal rust on some points of the undercarriage. These were because of a bad rust treatment of some of the components.
I've been searching for it, but I can't find it.
If anyone as a reference, I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks

Jaguar has apparently pulled the SSM and no longer allows replacement under warranty, claiming that the issue doesn't affect the structural integrity of the components.

Having those replaced by JLR didn't last long... Oh Well, it was only the REAR supports they replaced anyway, right?

I refinished ALL the rusty bits: the rear brackets, the front brackets, and the mid-body brace that is fitted to convertibles.

Our POR-15 is still holding up well, no abrasion of the POR in the areas subject to from road debris. (That aluminum (aluminuim?) tape works great.)

Well that's a shame. Mine are rather unsightly... I need to find someone with ramps or a lift.

That's why I need to find someone with ramps or a lift. Luckily, the vert makes it easy to troll the neighborhood for hobbyists. Once a target is identified, approach slowly with a six pack and a smile

Did you cover the POR-15 directly with the tape?

If you are asking me,

Yes, that is how I applied it. This was after allowing the POR to dry 24 hours, and before driving it.

Thanks all.

Can confirm. Took pictures of my car after a tire shop noted the rear braces looked a couple of standard deviations worse than they should (my cleansing of their language).

Dealer was polite, contacted Jaguar. I waited over a week for "the administrator" to get back to the service manager to say no.

Disappointing but not at all surprising.

Great car. I'll get the new parts, likely pay to get them powder coated, and be done with this issue.

If JLR is reading this....this was a slow pitch over home plate and you missed it completely.

I'm guessing no one at JLR knows what a slow pitch over a home plate is!

LOL...true that.

They should replace the very poorly executed steel braces out of principal given it says things about their steel. The JLR owner (Mr. Tata) is a world leader in steel. Oh well. Thanks, made me laugh.

Love the car and hope JLR only goes up of course. I'll eventually just have to figure this one out on my own. So much for 2 years of CPO warranty.....

Yes...These do tend to get "jacked up" with oxidation. Good news is very easy (and fun) to correct. While I had mine up to do the Cats, I went ahead and sanded/primed/and painted with "rust-proof" black paint. Looks MUCH better for sure.

Good luck!

It would work for me, although I prefer bourbon. Bring your clubs!
