Looks like you have an XF. Did you mean to post in the F-Type forum section?

yes, i have an f type and x type and an xf.
my question is about the f type which is a moot point as its the same motor in an xf, so i'll post there if no one here knows.

edit: just realised the xf details had been put into my sig, i just updated that, sorry for the confusion

Looked at several OEM parts sites and saw you can buy an upper and low oil pan separately or both together. For the life of me could not find the corresponding gaskets. I would imagine they are needed unless they are integral to the parts. Call a dealer and inquire.

I haven't looked up the parts or checked diagrams, but would not be surprised if there is no gasket and that an anaerobic sealant is called for, e.g. Loxseal.

Never came across an engine without an oil pan gasket (either lower or upper). Learn something new every day.

As noted, I didn't look anything up. I haven't seen it on a car yet and if the pan is stamped steel it'd surely need a gasket, but on motorcycles the machined cast aluminum faces seem to be getting sealer instead.

Just checked the repair manual (should have done that first). Apparently there is no gasket used only Loctite 5901G (RTV).
