Why is it so heavy?

Why is it so heavy?
Well - in addition to my usual snide remarks about some of the options - it may be that the standard car is built with quite a bit of room for weight reduction.
Consider the attached picture of the front calipers from a V6 base: note the single piston design; the tiny brake pads; the absolutely mahoosive caliper.
Never mind upgrading to bigger disks, it looks like worthwhile improvement are to be had using conventional single piston calipers...

There's the 6-piston Alcon kit from the XKR and an AP Racing kit that's been fitted to the XF, also some XK's
Problem with those they are a 400mm rotor and can only fit under the 20 inch wheels, and even then not all 20's work.
If you wanted to just upgrade the fronts then the 4-piston Brembo setup with 365mm rotors from my year of XJR will fit, but you'd need to swap the vertical link as well. They would fit under 18" wheels.
Kits from StopTech and a few other places would also fit.
So there are options, if you're keen.

There are a few options already out there, but people have not realised that they will fit the F-Type. Given the shared parts with other models (vertical links, hubs, hub carrier) then what fit's an XK or XF will fit the F-Type as well...

The 380mm rotors are the same part on the XFR-S & 5.0L XKR-S, X351 XJ too, but seems that there is no 380mm option for the F-Type, they are listed as 18", 19" or 20" brakes (20" being the carbons)
The F-Type RWD front hubs are the same part as XFR-S
The 18" brake option on the F-Type uses the same caliper mounting brackets as the 5.0L naturally aspirated USA-spec XF's 18" brakes. Means the mounting points on the vertical links will be in the same place.
The front vertical links on the RWD F-Type are the same for all brake variations.
The front vertical links on the XFR-S are the same part number as the N/A 5.0L XF
So XFR-S front brakes should just bolt up to a RWD F-Type. At least that's how it looks from the parts catalogue.
You will need to look at the dust shields too, or just take them off altogether.
