Well - in addition to my usual snide remarks about some of the options - it may be that the standard car is built with quite a bit of room for weight reduction.

Consider the attached picture of the front calipers from a V6 base: note the single piston design; the tiny brake pads; the absolutely mahoosive caliper.

Never mind upgrading to bigger disks, it looks like worthwhile improvement are to be had using conventional single piston calipers...

There are a set for sale on ebay: £1000 per caliper/pads; £1000 per disk...

I wish they hadn't been so cheap on calipers. I'd love some opposed piston ones. Sliding yoke calipers are definitely out if place on a car in this price range.

I gotta think that a nice aftermarket kit from Brembo or Wilwood will be available at some point if not now.

There are a few options already out there, but people have not realised that they will fit the F-Type. Given the shared parts with other models (vertical links, hubs, hub carrier) then what fit's an XK or XF will fit the F-Type as well...

There's the 6-piston Alcon kit from the XKR and an AP Racing kit that's been fitted to the XF, also some XK's
Problem with those they are a 400mm rotor and can only fit under the 20 inch wheels, and even then not all 20's work.

If you wanted to just upgrade the fronts then the 4-piston Brembo setup with 365mm rotors from my year of XJR will fit, but you'd need to swap the vertical link as well. They would fit under 18" wheels.

Kits from StopTech and a few other places would also fit.

So there are options, if you're keen.

I'm just a little annoyed that even a base model Boxster has 4-piston calipers but my "Super Performance" brakes have an anvil bolted to each front corner.

A number of areas where corners were kinda cut. Helps keep the price point low and helps pay for a 5-year/60k mile warranty.

I now have a set of XFRS front calipers and pads to experiment with. I'll need to get some discs and caliper carriers to go with them, so the next task is to work out the offsets of the various 380mm front brakes (or at least, I'm guessing that's why they are listed by chassis number...)

The 380mm rotors are the same part on the XFR-S & 5.0L XKR-S, X351 XJ too, but seems that there is no 380mm option for the F-Type, they are listed as 18", 19" or 20" brakes (20" being the carbons)

The F-Type RWD front hubs are the same part as XFR-S

The 18" brake option on the F-Type uses the same caliper mounting brackets as the 5.0L naturally aspirated USA-spec XF's 18" brakes. Means the mounting points on the vertical links will be in the same place.

The front vertical links on the RWD F-Type are the same for all brake variations.

The front vertical links on the XFR-S are the same part number as the N/A 5.0L XF

So XFR-S front brakes should just bolt up to a RWD F-Type. At least that's how it looks from the parts catalogue.

You will need to look at the dust shields too, or just take them off altogether.

T2R5940 appears to be 380mm. I'm looking at the parts listed on the website of a US dealership though, so there may be differences in presentation.

The calipers I have are C2P21063&4.

The carriers seem reasonably priced...
