I'm old fashioned... I do not like plastic/aluminum or carbon in my cars interior... As Jaguar only offer "carbon" trim for the interior to upgrade it,
or to adapt it to the taste of the owner, I started to look around for a solution.
Found it in a small company at a short distance of my house. You take the plastic parts you want to look different to them, leave it for some weeks,
and they cover them in plastic to your taste...
I know its a bit tacky as cheap chinese cars are stuffed with shiny plasticy fake wood... But I want to do it in a matte finish, not high gloss.
For the matte finish they show no example, but the general porduct looks like this : woodtrim
Now, is there somebody on the forum who did this already ? Can you please post some pictures as I find it hard to imagine what the end result looks like,
and which parts I should -not- turn into wood...
I started the 'wood' conversion ages ago, when I was 20 yrs old. My Triumph Dolemite Sprint was wrecked by an Iraqi driver without a license, driving a truck around.
Attempting to fill the void I converted my Mini Metro into a wood dash..
The chrome trim for this piece of varnished plywood came frome a scrapped Jaguar XJ..
Look at the top of the leftside door.. ..I tried it on one side first to check how it looked..

If this is what you like, more power to you! But I highly suggest you purchase a replacement part for anything you’re going to cover in wood so you can put it back to stock in case you sell the car, because no one is going to want it with the wood trim.
I dont think anyone had done this on an F-type because it is just not that kind of car, but you might want to check around the older generation forums as it would be a more popular mod there.
Thats a good idea. I will order the replacements in advance, have them treated and the dealer can put it in on delivery ! When it comes to selling the car, I can sell the 'wood' seperately...
I checked the older generation cars... Subject stop in 2014, so not for an F-Type or other recent car...
So even if I don't have the most horsepower, fastests or most stealth car, I will be the only one with woodtrim...

It is called 'hydro dipping' and its kind of like the big version of decals we used to put on model planes, cars etc, but better. I'm not sure how much you could do though, maybe just the center console around the touch screen and the base of the shifter?
I think maybe if you do an online build configuration on a JLR XJ or a Range Rover you may find they still offer wood trims for examples, but usually it is some kind of accent strip, and not very large.
From what I see at the production shots they put on their site its like dipping it in a gel... The pieces are not very big that I would like to have done. But on the examples page for automotive
they put a central dash of a volvo that looks about 50cm high and 35cm wide..
Maybe for the "young & wild bunch" they do also lots of weird motives like dollar bills !?!.. Fancy that for a dashboard ?!
I did lots of the configurations for the F-Pace, LR5 and RRS2 before I decided to buy the F-Type... It was the most sensible thing to do as I need a high seating for my back problems and
we have three kids, but they don't all come along. So it would mean buying a SUV for short term and maybe never come around again to buying a ICE coupe.. I considered an E-Pace
for a moment too and a Tesla.. So from the response here I realise JLRT got their market research right, I am just the odd duck...
