Default Application Specific RTV

I have found that it really does seem to make a difference to use the RTV sealant that is specific to the fluid sealing application, rather than a general automotive sealant. Other important note is to finger tighten only (until you see a slight bead at the interface) let sit one hour, then torque fully (this is per the instructions).

Thanks for that.

What I been saying for years.

Gaskets are maninly history.

I let it set overnight, then tighten as required.

We have a newy down here, called Three-Bond. Its is Grey, and is an OE specified product. Some of the engine gasket sets we get have a tube of it included. Sticks like (not printable here), and is multi fluid compatible.

My tube of genuine Jaguar supplied RTV has a Jaguar label over the top of the manufacturers LOCTITE 5699 Grey labelling.

This may help anyone looking for an alternative supplier.
