If you have an X350 you should get a B280 cable. You can use the B203 but the WDS would 'prefer' the B280 for the later cars.

I will try to see the connector copper socket connections in the plug.

I did not have time to correlate the pins to the other end of the cable (DLC)
I'll try some time soon.

I don't know exactly what is the top as your diagram is not showing the side slots that are not bilateral, they are offset on one side.

The one on the left (midway) is slightly lower.

Default thank you again ...

wow!!, that's a lot more pins then i figured...how the heck does it need so many when the DLC only has 9 pins occupied? It did ask me for the 280 but I figured they were the same. Are the pin outs that much different between the 203 and the 280? Im waiting for a 259 I found which is sposed to be the same as the 280 I guess.

I don't know the difference between the B203 and the B280 but the WDS does know.
The B203 will work on the early cars but the B280 WILL NOT.
I have never paid much attention since I have BOTH.

I can try to document the B203 pinout if you need it.

The pins from the WDS end to the DLC end can be matched with a meter to see the layout.

Let me know if the B259 is not compatible.

Default thank you again and again

Seeing all those pre 2k cars on you're page it clicked with the 203 cable..its basically non can, I think it was 02 that it was mandated in Europe to go to the can and 04 here and mine is 02.5 build-04 release so the 280 was made with that ability and that makes sense now that it asked me for it. Even though the 308 series pretty much had a lot of modules and probably communicated the same as now but doesn't have the ability to multiplex like they do now...I think? It sounds good anyway. So my only question is how different is the pinout between the 203 and the 280? I hate to ask but could you possibly do the 280 pinout on the image for me?

There are a few duplicate pins in the WDS plug that go to the 16 pin DLC.

Default B-259 cable

I can confirm that the WDS B-259 cable works on my X350 so it should work on probably on anything 02 - 05 with CAN and up to what years beyond I'm not sure. So the B-280 and the B-259 appear to be the same.

Default B-280 cable length?

Hi Bob, I don't know what the length of the B-280 is but the 259 is 7 ft long, I dont think any of my standard DLC cables are more then 3 ft, so that is longer then normal. In one of my IDS install books it has pictures of most if not all the cables and it shows both the 259 and 280 being the same cable with different part numbers but no mention to one being shorter, I did notice that the pin outs look different so maybe that means something.
