ECU questions
Dear Techies, please help.
55plate 2.7 TDI S-type that wont start. Check relevant sensors CPS/CKS/IFS/fuel delivery and need to check FPS/FVC etc.
Was wondering if ECU could be at fault. Car was witnessed running with Easystart only i.e would not continue running.
Q1) Do ECU physically fail or can they get corrupted s/w
Q2) is there a way to tell what firmware the ECU has and what the latest release is.
Q3) If yes to above can ECU be re-programmed / flashed using OBD tools.

Should be in the S-Type forum - maybe a mod will move it.
But... no diesel S-Types in USA/Canada and the 2.7D uses a different PCM to any of the others. For those, the PCM is almost 100% reliable and the very last place to look.
Yours isn't even the same make so no idea.
