Almost certainly not. See if anyone knows more but don't even try it before being sure. Cars like mine go into anti-theft and it's a dealer tool to get it out.

But... they hardly ever fail so probably you've not quite figured out the fault.... er and what is it???

JagV8,

See joesoap's other thread in which he describes the malfunction. Hopefully you'll have some good ideas that haven't been mentioned:

Cheers,

If it's like all my other cars it will need to be coded to your car

Don - thanks.

I'm a bit worried to have 2 threads about different aspects of the same problem......

If you replace the ECU you need to code it to the car using SDD "Replace Module"

If evidence emerges that the topic of this thread is actually related to the symptoms reported in the other thread, I'll merge the threads.

Default Sorry for Confusion

Sorry for starting another thread but was just looking for a yes no answer as I could get a used ECM for 50-100 pounds and eliminate that from possibles or cure the issue?

This one should die soon as answers confirm it needs SDD which I have, but not exactly confident yet?

You can't just simply plug the ECU from another car into yours, it needs to be coded to your vehicle. There are various security measures in place that prevent swapping ECUs without programming with IDS/SDD.
