Default Map sensor issues 1998 Vanden Plas

My 1998 jaguar starts fine but after running a short period of time or idling for a while. It starts to run very rough if I pull over and shut the engine off give it a minute restart it. It will restart and run however, it still doesn’t have all the power it should have. I pulled the map sensor cleaned it with sensor cleaner reinstalled it ran good for about 80 miles downshifting perfect but then it started to act up again I bought a new map sensor, spark plugs, air filter again ran decent for about 80 miles before back to the same issue The original fault was restricted power after switching to the new map sensor. It now gives me an air intake over temp. Any information would be greatly appreciated

The 1998 VDP does not have a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. (MAP)
You are referring to the Mass Airflow Sensor. (MAF)

There is no air intake over temp. P1111
That simply means the emission readiness tests have been completed. (THAT IS GOOD)

You need to read and print all the DTCs logged in the ECM to get a diagnosis of the fault.

Maybe the throttle? There were issues with the throttles and recalls years ago.

This is the actual code P1111 and I understand it doesn't make sense as this is generic number but this is still all that comes up.

As Motorcarman said that is a good code and indicates the car is ready for inspection.
Now the problem is your scanner simply can't see the Jaguar codes. Plus it is wrong about the code?
I think you would better served by getting the car scanned with a different scanner since that one is WAY off and P1111 is the most common code you will ever see?
What is the model your using? If your not willing to step up to using the SDD (And I totally understand that!) Take a look at the sticky threads at the top of the forum? We have one on Jaguar capable scanners that might help?

This is a large thread with many suggestions.
Jaguar Scanner Thread

As a further explanation all cars must have either P1000 or P1111 showing at all times. P1000 means the codes have been erased and the car is waiting for the readiness monitors to set. The car is NOT ready for inspection. P1111 is the coast is all clear and the car is happy so your ready for inspection.

Anyway you can get a better scanner on the car? I don't think your getting good readings.

Default Codes

Finally was able to get the jaguar with the faults pulled up. It is left-hand right hand fuel rail running lean so I figure it’s one of two things fuel pump or fuel filter I’m going to start with the filter as I have 22-25 psi for fuel at the Schrader valve.

Post the actual code and be sure to use the Jaguar meaning and their list of possible causes.

Good troubleshooting!
I think that low fuel pressure is where your problem is? Still would like the actual code if possible?
Change the filter but don't be too surprised if you do need to change the fuel pump?

Default Fixed

After pulling the backseat and the rear pad and speaker, cutting a hole above the gas tank and replacing the fuel pump and the fuel filter in the tank, got my fuel pressure back and the Jaguar runs like a champ now thanks for all the help from everyone.
