Default Fueling

Coming back from a show we experienced some severe missing which then cleared completely At home it played up again.I found both jets in one carb were blocked.
I have fitted two parallel disposable filters before the pump and replaced the under bonnet one.
I also cleaned out the float bowls.
Unfortunately the banjo connectors then leaked and I spent ages getting fibre washers which was very difficult. I ended up with a very helpful Lynn at Southern Industrial Fasteners 07711721911.
The carb internals were also dirty due to the breather pipe entering the inlet of the air system so I wondered if anyone has disconnected it and used a different termination?

We had some discussion of alternative breather arrangements recently - see the link above. Still, there shouldn't be so much oil/dirt coming through the breather.

Thank you for the advice. There are minimal fumes but 58 years worth!

I suggest you also check the in-tank filter.
They can be partially blocked to a degree which will stop the car after a mile or so.
It's a not uncommon problem in MK1 and MK2 cars.
