Default Mk2 brake servo hoses

Can anyone tell me if the two brake servo hoses, one going from the vacuum tank to the servo and the other from the vacuum tank to the inlet manifold both enter the engine bay through the hole in the bottom of the brake servo housing.

If so, what vacuum hose are you using as I purchased 3/8” vacuum hose (approx 19mm OD) and I’m struggling to get both these through the servo housing!!

thanks
George

You are correct, and they are a tight fit !

It's easier to take the cover off and then put it over the pipes, you will really struggle pushing the 2 through the hole.

No photos I am afraid at the moment but the servo tank sits upright on the front chassis cross member right behind the front lights. It is bolted to the cross member with two bolts.

Cheers,
That's useful, I could really do with a photo or a measurement from the flitch panel if anyone has one

Ray,
As I said in the other thread there is very little you won't find on Lin's valvechatter thread/blog regarding restoring a Mk2. Lin listed & photographed & diagrammed the entire process. Learn to navigate his blog by clicking main headings & all will open up. https://valvechatter.com/?p=2116

Good luck & enjoy! Shout if you need help. Don't hesitate.

That's fine. Then ask here & we will chase it up for you. Lot's of combined knowledge here. Cass & I have large libraries but they are mainly S Type.

Jumping on this thread.... I have a servo, i have a single pipe to nowhere... I looked in the driver side wheel arch and i cant find the vacuum tank (62 Mk II) I eventually found it behind the passenger (right) side lamps... so where does this pipe go?

Hard to be sure, but it looks to me like the hose to the vacuum line from the inlet manifold. Have a look at the drawing in post no. 8 above.

Suspect you are correct - its very "brittle" does anyone know the internal diameter and I might replace with rubber hose?

I believe the inner diameter is 8mm. I'll have to look where I bought my replacement hose. I think it was from a Porsche parts seller. If you look under the front of the car where the reservoir is mounted you should see a valve the controls where the air goes. You can get a measurement off of one of the ports. If you don't have the valve I've got an extra one you can have.

You will also need the T that is part of the system. The diagram above shows how everything is correctly plumbed.

This is the hose I bought.

https://www.jbugs.com/product/N203761.html

Couldn't find any 8mm ID hose that was cloth braided. This stuff works fine, hose clamps keeps it tight since the ports are just over 9mm in diameter. Three feet was a perfect length for all the connections

Next step is to jack it up and have a propper look. I just got the head back from the Machine Shop.

Thank you for your advice.

dont forget the short metal rod at the top of the booster/servo cover that connects to that large vacuum tank to keep the vibrations down
