70 XKE Intro
Hello all, Just joined the forum and want to start by thanking everyone for the valuable information posted.
My story is similar to yours. The first siting of a Jaguar was love at first sight, this was at about age 13. I am 62 now and have a project of a 1970 XKE convertible purchased in CA, 2007. My dilemma is whether to restore or sell. While the 70 wasnt my dream model, its what I have. It requires full restoration and has some rust viewed from under carriage. My husband is an expert engine builder, fabricator, and wants to suit her up with a Ford 427 or small block (please dont throw tomatoes).
Your advice would help me tremendously whether in encouragement or a reality check. As always, in gratitude, Lisa

Welcome to the forums Lisa,
To make money in descending order:
1. restore to OE specification - large investment in time if you have the skills or money if you need to buy expertise.
2. sell "as is" - it's worth a lot more now than you will have paid for it in 2007
Fitting an alternative engine will very effectively destroy any provenance, the associated worth of an "original numbers" E-Type and put the value of the resulting vehicle through the floor.
Your car - your decision.

Welcome to the Forums.
I agree with Graham. I am NOT against engine changes mostly, EXCEPT the E type.
I have seen a few here gone that path, and they were worth zero when the time came to move on.
Likewise, your car, your choice, and NO Tomatoes from me, EVER.
Good luck.

Hello, Lisa,
No tomatoes from me!! My Jag came to me with a Chevy 350 and I've been Very pleased, but it's NOT an E-type. Those are almost Worshiped by Jaguaristas. who will do almost Anything and spend almost Any $$$ to keep them stock. But it's YOUR car and you have the Right to do whatever YOU want to do with it..
Anything to keep it out of the crusher.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
