Unhappy 1998 Jaguar XJ8 L - Need a Solution

I have a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 L. the car won't crank – the battery was tested and is fine (70%). The car is getting fuel in the line, the belts are turning, starter is good, but it just does not turn over after trying for 10 minutes.

I discovered what appears to be red transmission fluid under the front of the vehicle. What could be the problem?

What is the voltage across the battery terminals when checked with a voltmeter?

Charge the battery at 2 to 5 amps for 8 hours and retest. Battery should show a minimum of 12.6 volts after load test for 10 seconds or should be replaced.

The fuel pump and other systems may not run correctly with a battery having less than 12 volts.

Welcome to the forums DaddyBill3,

I've moved your other version of this question from US Mid Atlantic Region to X308 forum for advice from members with the same model. Here's the direct link to it:

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the main X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.
