Default 2002 X-Type unknown hose

I had to replace the upper radiator hose (the plastic hose/thermostat housing, etc that cracks over time). When I was done I still had a 1/4" or so tube dangling up top but I couldn't remember what it connects to. It runs from near the battery box and goes downward. It appears to be a drain of some sort. There are loops in the bottom of the battery box that kind of look like the tube may have went through there. The car runs fine without it being connected but I would like to know where it's supposed to connect up top. Any ideas? Lost a tube connection I have. How embarrassing.

Welcome to the forums jfaust,

Good to have you with us. I agree the battery vent tube is a likely candidate.

I can see you've already found your way to the X-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Ah ha! I bought the car used and the top cover for the battery wasn't there. It didn't make any sense for there to be a tube there but if the top cover were in place the tube would allow any nasty gasses from the battery to vent down below. I've put the tube in it's place although without the top cover for the battery it doesn't really do much. Thanks for the answer!
