Hi all,

I have loved the XJ series since a young child. My father had series 1 and 2. He had plenty of cars, but the XJ was the one that stayed with me, I always said I would get one, decided this was the year, I wanted a daily so set my sights on a XJ8 X350. Just over a month ago a car came up on youtube, I had to have this car, I couldn’t phone the dealer for at least an hour, as I had to calm myself down.

The car was a grey 2003 XJR X350 with charcoal interior, I took my young son with me, explained that we need to negotiate a good price, if I look to keen let me know. My son tried, but I was in love with the car.

First night home and up until recently alarm going off randomly, not a great start. I’ve been welcomed to the price of original parts, drivers door actuator approx $1K. Sensors never worked, they do now. In fairness the dealer went halves with me, which was appreciated.

I've never been happy with the soft brake pedal, so had it inspected, needs front brakes. So asking for recommendations, I can only find really old posts re: rotors etc. My mechanic quoted me $1200 fitted, thought I would get front and back for that.

One of the moderators in the old thread recommended R1 Concepts. I found some on Amazon, firstly are these good and secondly are they the right size.

I love my car, I can’t explain how it makes me feel when I drive it. The interior is truly in amazing condition, it has a few scratches etc on the exterior, it is a 21 year old car.

Cheers

DK.

Welcome to the Forums.

Well done, and what I say now is MY opinion and NO affiliation or such rubbish, this is OZ after all.

TRW brake parts, all my Jags for too many years. Repco have some good deals at times.

PM will be sent later tonight, so watch out for it.

Good luck.

Hey, welcome aboard Coola. Great to have you in the pride. So, your new found love affair is all your son's fault for not restraining you? LOL.

Please don't be upset at the alarm . . . kitty needs to settle in to her new home. You may even find a nervous little puddle underneath in the morning. Just mop it up . . . reassure her . . . pamper her with a polish, eh?

The X308, then X350, are wonderful machines and deserve to be enjoyed. Don't forget to make yourself known on the Vic Regional forum, mate.

Cheers,

DK,

Cannotsend youa PM< the Forum rules are you are too new, duh.

Front pads TRW $14, clearing stocks.
Rear Pads, $147, a tad high,, but still in puddle.

NO findings for Rotors, but shop around mate, they are out there.

I just got TRW rotors for the X Type @ $15 each, and pads @ $18 per set. The same mob I mentioned earlier.
They put out insane prices when clearing stuff.
Cabin filter for the X @ 70 cents, I got 4.

When the time membership or post count allows, we can "talk" more.

Good lauck.

Thanks for the replies, unfortunately with the brakes I seem to be pretty limited. At this stage, I might source the rotors OS and purchase the pads locally.

Will go and have a look at TRW re: pads.

Cheers

Hello, DK,
Congratulations on your First Jaguar!
Don't lose heart, the car is only Testing you to see if you're worthy as it's new owner.
Only Jags are known to do that, as they're the Only cars with Soul.

We have a Very active Aussie contingent here, they'll tell you where to get parts at the Most reasonable prices.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Hi all,

I’m having no luck with the brakes, is there another section of the forum I should try? Or is there someone with an X350 XJR that can send me a private message.

Suppose, worst case scenario is I order the rotors from Amazon, if they are the incorrect size I can send them back.

I think I’ve added my car to my signature.

Cheers

I reckon mwmbws in the XJ (Z350) Tech Section, down the home page a tad further than here, will have nswers.

I have used RockAuto in thw USA over the years with good results and fair pricing etc.

i will try and find some part numbers later and pots here, until the Private Message system lifts for you.

Did it now, so as not to clutter the New Member Section.
It will depend on the Vin #.
and
Rotor Diameter.
F 326 or 355.mm
R 326, as best I can see.

Aftermarket is scratchy for some bizarre reason.

Hi Grant,

Pretty sure mine are 365mm for front and 330 for rear. My understanding they changed to 355 in 2006.

Unfortunately Amazon doesn’t provide these dimensions.

I am ending this in this New Members Section from my end. Getting too involved for this Section.

Continuation should be in the X350 Tech Section.

Thanks.
