Default 2004 xk8 finally

I waited 26 years to get the right combination of budget and car to be able to buy one of these. Silver convertible with beautiful Dayton wires on it and remarkably good condition with 90,000 miles. I also have an S type with 170,000 miles on it that was born in 2000. Prior to that I had a 1999XJ8 but that cought the chassis cancer and had to be put away. Prior to that 25 years ago I had two different xk8 including 2+2
it was my father in the early 50s, who planted the seed by buying an XK 140 in England with left hand drive, and I believe one of the first automatic transmissions put into one of those. He drove that about Europe for business, and then eventually brought it back to the states and sadly sold it and traded it for a 1958 Corvette. I am looking forward to resolving all the little issues with the new car but I certainly like to get this washer door put back in please and promise myself never to hit the windshield wipers when I go through a car wash . Happy new year to the rest of you.

A late 'welcome' to the forums akew,

I see you registered in 2016 but are likely to be an infrequent forum user so I'll give you some useful links. Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Default Ck8 2004 headlight washer proble thank you graham

Thank you Graham for your reply. You may be very right about a broken tab. Everything I had heard was that you could just pull this unit out but when I did suddenly went limp and drop down very discouraging.
i Am still trying to sort this forum which is great but I have not read all the newbie menu. I will today as I sit in my mechanics waiting room waiting for tire balance, full alignment, plugs and coils
hopefully he can check on the washer …maybe just dislodged ?? And also telll me why passenger seat just grinds noisily instead of tilting forward or backwards
WHY DO WE DO THIS JAGUAR THING TO OURSELVES

thank again

Alan,

You won't be the frst to have trouble with the Powerwash unit. If one of the 'tangs' is broken, I suggest posting in XK8/XKR forum asking how other owners with this model have fixed the issue.

The grinding noise from the seat is likely to be the drive worm from the motor stuck. It'll require the seat removing to investigate.

The XK8 is a great vehicle (I've had two Coupes - a 2001 and a 2005) and once you get the minor faults resolved will be a pleasure to own and drive.

Graham
