2007 XK...loving it
Hi and thanks for having such a forum.
I have a 2007 platinum XK with a whole bunch of mile on it but it is still the most beautiful car on the road (especially down here in Houston, Texas which has a lot of pick-up trucks...go figure). I routinely get stopped by folks telling me how beautiful my car is (I also get it when I drive my red 1965 Mustang convertible......why yes, I am single....thus toys)....AND, when I valet park they always seem to park it up front. I had a 1997 black XJ and it often got treated the same way.
As mentioned, I am from Houston, Texas with a platinum 2007 XK. I bought it about a year and a half ago with lots of miles, around 132,000. It now has about 156,000 and driving well so far (I did get an error code yesterday I need to investigate P0087, fuel pressure low, IIRC). It has nary a flaw on it except a bit of mild haze line on the right headlight cover.....oh, and the dang dash leather ripple which I have read about....sigh.
That being said, I can't properly express how much I love this car (heck, my level of gold-digger improved too :-)...well, before I found my girlfriend).
I'm not sure when I first signed up for the forum, may have been with the XJ, but more likely when I got the XK. I finally read the new member post and saw I should post to be "full fledged"
Between my '97 XJ and and getting the XK I drove Jetta's for a while (one was diesel). The Jetta is really a fine, reliable, good....uh, and boring car. With the XK I got the car I wanted instead of the car I "should have ;-)
I am a 56 year old cop and a lawyer and my big hobby is I have built and test flown my own experimental airplane, a Velocity SE. I currently installing a new engine in plane. Once flying again and painted, I hope to get a good "justification for higher education" photo with the Jaguar, Mustang, Honda Sabre motorbike and plane taken. Yes,a bit showy but also fun.
I like driving the Jag on daily basis. Having such a fine car and not driving it is like dating a beautiful woman and not ..... uh, kissing her.
Well, that's likely too much for a brief intro. Cheers.
All the best,
