Hello, my name is Mpuchane T from Botswana and I drive this 2010 petrol model which I purchased from a used imported car dealer here in December 2018. A couple of months later I experienced a problem with the gear selector not releasing up when I start the engine. Upon notifying the dealer he was also not in a position to assist so I removed one terminal from the battery and tried again after 5 minutes and it worked well. The problem kept appearing randomly and my jaguar dealers here could not get the picture since they only deal with newer models. Last December it did the same thing and I tried my usual tricks but to no avail this time. It has been parked since then and last week I tried to start and the gear selector responded this time and I managed to park it nicely at home but after switching off the engine I decided to check if the problem was gone but still it failed to respond. As i surf the internet for possible solutions I came across this forum and thought to myself that this is it. Can anyone please help. What might be the problem here and what are the possible solutions, I still love my jaguar but have not enjoyed it due to this for a year now. Thank you

Welcome to the Forums.
The members in the XF (X250) Tech Section should have answers for that.
Good luck.

Hello, Mpuchane T,
I'm sorry you haven't been able to drive your Jaguar for such a long time. I hope you get it on the road soon.

Welcome to the forums Mpuchane T,
Not good news. The battery disconnect (hard reset) was clearly only a temporary solution as the problem has repeated. Unfortunately it could be a fault with the TCM (Transmission Control Module) but the only way to check this is with Jaguar Diagnostics.
