Default 2nd fuel pump 88 he just bought

I have been reading the forums and have the problem engine gets sluggish after 30 minutes shuts off. replaced the 2 filters one before fuel pump and canister after. checked fuel pump seems fine. This was the setup under the battery and spare. Isn't there a 2nd fuel pump somewhere else and is there a filter? Also under the hood there's a tiny filter. What is that ? it is a plastic small disk? What I did is syphon the tank from the 1/2 inch in order to get to the pump and filter and It is real sluggish now and quits every few 100 ft. Went back through what I did and may have cramped the fuel supply. I'll start her up and post. Also air conditioner isn't working. I know that can cause vapor lock and am working on that .Anyone know where the reset switch is for this? I added Freon of course without the ac going, duh. Any additional ideas? It is the new Freon compressor. Clutch turns but does not engage I still would like to understand the mystery pump and it's location. Thanks.

Firstly, welcome.

Many questions, so I will work thru what I know in order I hope??

There is only ONE fuel pump, under that battery cover, alongside the small fuel sump tank.

There is the MAIN fuel filter behind the spare tyre, and a very FINE plastic mesh intake filter on the suction pipe INSIDE that sump tank. The fact there is a 2nd filter in the supply hose worries me a tad, as the previous owner has had issues me thinks.

The 1/2" hose FROM the main tank TO the sump tank is now OLD (like me), and may be breaking up inside, especially when people "clamp" this hose, in lieu of draining the whole system. This crud gets into the sump tank, and blocks things, and it also blocks that hose/pipe quite effectively.

The small plastic "filter" under the bonnet is the distributor cap breather, and NOTHING to do with the fuel system.

The main tank MAY be full of crud, and that is blocking the metal spigot that the 1/2" hose attaches to. This will stop the syphon of fuel from the main tank to the sump tank.

Air con not working has little to NO effect on vapour locks. We have 50+ summers and I run NO fuel coolers on any of my Jags, and NO issues at all.

Air con inop I will leave alone, as your market is waaaay different to ours.

Default Thanks to all. Very nice meeting you.

You have a nice forum here and was able to answer most questions from past posts. A little Sherlock Holmes investigating some quite interesting results.
The HE is a beautiful car. I am still fixing things. The fuel is a problem. I did have bits of rust at the sump big enough to block fuel into pump. Changed all fuel filters emptied and cleaned tanks looked real good shape.

Now Its lesser stuff. Windshield wipers, drivers window motor and dash lights don't work. Also no air flow on climate control Is there a common thread between these?
Thanks,
John 88HE
