Hey guys, new to the forums. Just acquired a 1986 XJS and still trying to learn more about them.. Previous owner swapped a generation 1,350 small block carb, with a t5 manual tranny. Not sure if it was the 6 or 12 cylinder but front badge says v12. I know very little about Jaguars, coming from a background of Chevy, but the car intrigued me. Some things I noticed righted off the bat were strong fumes coming from the fuel tank, along with pressure when opening the fuel cap, also the windshield wipers don’t work. I know electrical issues are common and the fuse block under the driver dash is problematic, but Any info on that would be appreciated. For the fumes, Thinking there’s something up with the evap system because of the carb.
All in all I think the car is beautiful, and sounds great.
Thanks for reading, sorry for no pictures of the engine. Will upload on command
