Default 96 VDP Grab handle mounts - same US/UK?

I’ve been an inactive member for 4 yrs and luckily no problems with my Jag so, sorry for the out of the blue inquiry.

I have a 96 VDP and due to my aging body, I find myself dragging myself out of the car using the steering wheel and door pillar to assist my exit. To remedy this, I bought an over head grab handle from a salvage XJ and want to mount it above the drivers door.
The question is: Are there pre threaded mounts to screw the grab handle to or would I have to tap new ones in the roof rail frame? If they do exist, I assume I could measure the distance from the passenger side mounts as a guide, expose them and go from there.
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
Someone will be along soon to direct you to the correct section where you can learn about hanging your Exit Handle.

A very late 'welcome to the forum' Quietgiant,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I'd be surprised if the holes aren't already drilled in the right place but there could be missing captive nuts on your driver's side.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 forum for help, advice and information.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome.

I agree, I would be surprised if the mounts were not there, just depends if the production wanted to save 50cents and left the treads out.

My X300 Base model had those handles on all 4 doors, there when I got the car, and just took it as "normal", maybe the USA market left them out????
