Battery disconnect and cjb xf 2014
Hi i left my jaguar xf 2014 into kwik fit to change the large battery as a warning had come up battery not charging ( the battery is in it from new and I already changed alternator a few months back). They checked the battery and said yes I needed a replacement so booked me in the next day. I asked the manager could they change the battery ok as it needed power going to the car to save settings. He said it was no problem as the had all the technology. So left it in next day again said to make sure power was maintained to car . After waiting 3 hours I knew there were problems and the the area manager said the keys were not being recognised and the gy who had been changing the battery in his haste had disconnected the battery without maintaining power as they were very busy. So I was given a courtesy car for 5 days whilst they brought in someone to fix it. When I did get the car back they explained the spare key was faulty. After a few days I noticed the front windscreen washer was not working. I investigated some posts on here which stated the cjb can be affected by the incorrect battery change and a symptom of this can be the washer not working. I rang the area manager who said the work they done would not affect the cjb as he had spoken to the tech guy he had brought in and the pump may just be faulty. Today my car isn't recognising the key at all which leads me to believe the cjb has been damaged. I have left a message for the area manager but would like some advice or if someone has some knowledge to help me.
thanks
Ivan

Welcome to the Forums.
As this is NOT the Tech Section of the Forums, answers here will be very few and far between.
The XF (X250) Tech Section in the area, and until all the time zones align, coffee is consumed, waiting will be frustrating.
I have NO idea at all.
Good luck

Yes you have a very well know problem so lets start at the beginning?
I have attached the Jaguar TSB concerning this and as I have posted at least 6 or 8 times before there are a number of problems wrapped up in this that you need to understand?
Yes your year of XF has a problem that the CJB's (Central Junction Box-Yes we use to call them fuse boxes!) get damaged (Somehow I don't understand yet?) when disconnecting and changing the battery. As the TSB explains Jaguar's solution is the replacement of two VERY expensive CJB's. We have had reports of $4000+ cost estimates. Now I still have yet to find out if these "new" CJB's will permanently fix this problem or will another battery change cause all this to start over again? Jaguar has not stated that there are new updated parts for the CJB's either? Same part numbers.
The other way to fix this is using an after market scanner of some kind (Still trying to find exactly which aftermarket scanner?) apparently made by Autel that can reset the CJB's so they do not need to be replaced. BUT with the added problem that when the battery is disconnected this will happen again. Also be aware that your idea to keep the car alive while changing batteries is a good one. No one has yet claimed this has worked or HOW they kept the car alive when changing batteries. This might be the way forward if we can get some reports back of success?
Now you mention the windshield washer and that is another related problem? What happens is the electrical plug on the washer pump leaks fluid back into the wire harness. Note this plug goes up and attaches to the CJB under the hood of the car. This causes corrosion not only in the washer pump harness (I think that is what your seeing?) but also causes corrosion in the CJB itself! The pump is behind the wheel liner on the drivers side (I think but don't know since I have an XJ?). Take all that out and CAREFULLY inspect that pump and wire harness!
Here is a good thread with pictures of the corrosion and note that you have now run into the smart key problems and your car won't start. That is generally what happens as this problem is not detected until these symptoms show up. Some very experienced guys posted on that thread so do note what they are saying!
Washer Pump Causing Corrosion in Wiring
I have also read where somebody got SDD to reset things and I hope he will post again with his solution?
Maybe this time with a few more details for the rest of us? Note what John Williams posted.

Hello, Ivan,
What a Frustrating problem! If you haven't already found your way there, someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where you can find help. Until then, the poster just above me seems to have a good grasp of your problem. Still, it would be a good idea to find the correct section for further clarification if needed.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
