Default Damon from Queens NY 2004 XJR

Hello all,

Just stopping by with a quick introduction. I just recently purchased a 2004 XJR. I'm a 43yo male and conduct forensic engineering and architectural investigations with a large firm in NYC. I have always wanted an XJR since I fist seen one at the New York Auto Show many many years ago an dI finally broke down and bought one.

I am pretty familiar with eaton powered vehicles as I own not one but three thunderbird supercoupes. One has a custom 2.2 Autorotor with laminoa liquid to air intercoolers, one BONE stock and the other recently switched from a custom 1.7 AR air/air IC to a custom turbo setup to the tune of over 800rwhp. I also have a few other vehicles, a supercharged mustang 302 convertible and a 4.6 SOHC supercharged T bird (none of which make as much power as my little v6 turbo bird). Ive experimented with various combinations with my eatons before dropping them for bigger and better things.

I bought the jaguar because to me quite honestly there is nothing classier than a jag. I realize there are purists that wouldnt dare modify this vehicle and others such as myself. I am as of now pretty much sure of where I would like to start my modifications. My experience with eaton twin helix blowers (m90) leads me to wanting to modify the air inlet side of the blower setup first. So far I havent come up with anyone selling anything I would use so any help in that area would be greatly appreciated. As an example my little v6 produced the most boost/power with a 95mm TB, 4" inlet tube and MAF and open element air filter. That was with an S ported m90. Stock is nowhere near that size and this only on a little v6 with a little m90. I'm positive the compromises in the jaguar system for sound control are restrictive. Exhaust wise I will probably fabricate something myself and will sure have plenty of questions on sound and resonation. SO I will be making sure to scour the forums in search of information.

Well before I get carried away...... this is just a hello. So hi!

Damon

Hi Damon,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on acquiring a truly fine automobile!

Search the forum for posts by caldoofy on a revised intake he designed for the X350 XJR - that may or may not be similar to what you're thinking of but perhaps you'll be able to contribute to that discussion.

See you in the X350 forum!

Cheers,

Don

So today was my first day really driving it around.....I dont know why I hadnt bought one sooner! I saw the post on his intake. With my experience with Eaton blowers anything less than a 3" intake on an M90 charger and a 3.8 v6 was restrictive. I had been running a 4"..On a smaller blower and a v6 with a 95MM TB and a slot MAF. Im thinking there is much to be gained on the inlet side with these cars. Ive seen the TB size being a limited factor allthough it seems a 95mm has been sourced from somewhere. Im wondering if its from a ford application with cable free throttle.....Must do research...Start a new thread..Oh I dont know. I really love this car!

I attached some photos. I didnt take these as they came with the car.
