Hi All,
I just bought my first Jaguar, a 2002 XK8. Loving it, but already have the need for your collective expertise!! With 100k miles and full dealer service history it was a snip at auction and just plan to have some fun. On the isle of wight there's not a lot of high speed opportunities but plenty of open roads and lanes to play with :-)

Within a few days I've already got the DSC warning and ABS light on, so I've been cleaning all the sensors, but so far no luck solving the message.

I presume I don't need to reset something after cleaning? How about the need to clean up the ABS cog that the sensor senses? I could run a wire brush over the 'contact' surface - might that help?

Could it be one of the sensors has failed? I could get one and try it on each wheel in turn.

Many thanks in advance

Hello, Steve,
I have discovered there's usually a reason (maybe more than one) that a car goes to Auction. You may have found the reason(s) you found yours there.

No matter, members in here are able and willing to help you with all your Jaguar problems.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Steve,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

With weird electrical faults on the XK8/XKR, first eliminate a low charge or failing battery as a possible cause.

Follow Norri's link in post #4 to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thanks for the welcome!
I should pick up questions about battery voltage in the appropriate thread I suppose. It's reading 12.2 with the ignition off, which doesn't sound bad to me. Should it be more?
I agree auctions can be a minefield, although most cars in the country go through auctions, it's the way the motor trade works. (BCA have about 17,000 on their books being sold in the next few weeks). This was a motor trade insider who does a great service finding good cars before dealers get them.
