Default Greetings Ladies and Gents.

I just picked up white 2005 Jaguar S-Type fully loaded with 55,000 miles for a steal.
It appears to have been dealer maintained it's whole life as I just pulled a Jaguar oil filter when I did the first oil change (Mobil 1 Extended) and have service records for the rest of the time.

I was able to get a 12 month warranty on the rear differential which has the 55-75 mph whine coming from it. It's been checked out and the gears look fine, but will most likely be changing out the fluid as well as looking at resetting/reprogramming all the modules that can be.

The only other thing wrong with it is that the pass. seat heat doesn't work, but have another heating element module for it, to swap out. Also a reprogram might fix it, as well as the semi-hard shifts coming from the ZF tranny.

Anyway, looking forward to gaining some knowledge on this car through this forum and meeting the Jag "gurus"

Welcome to the forum WhiteKitty,

The S-Type looks great with nothing too serious to fix on your 'to do' list.

Follow Norri's link to the S-Type tech section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Holy Moly, what an outpour of love for a stranger!

Thank you for the formal greetings, everyone!

The last time I subscribed to a forum like this was when I had a "hotrodded" '88 Lincoln Mark VII. Although, I learned a lot about that car, it seems that this forum is better organized and has a wonderful community of Jaguar enthusiasts!
Not to mention I don't have to read about the Ford VS. Chevy debate in every post

I am starting to download and organize all the how-to tutorials and good sources for parts and repairs to our cars.

The next few things that are pressing is the hard/sometimes erratic shifts I have been getting recently, so considering a fluid/filter/electrical sleeve change, if the reprogram doesn't help.

Anyway, thanks again for your warm welcome to Jaguarforums.com!

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum WhiteKitty.

Yes we are a friendly bunch here. You are on your way to a lot of knowledge in the "How To" thread in the S Type subforum.

Your transmission problem may not be what you think. BE SURE to check those IMT O-rings (hint).

Enjoy all the forum has to offer!

Being a systems engineer and computer programmer, organizing files, programs, and code just comes naturally, I suppose.

Apply this to our cars and it's nice to be able to simply open up a folder or bookmarked forum page and have your solution available when the Jaguar "gets sick". This also helps for peace of mind too

...for everything else, there is Mastercard
