Default Hello from Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ

Hi folks. I don't currently own a Jaguar but am seriously considering buying a 2008-09 XJ. I've seen a few and am going to drive 2 hours to look at one next week. Not sure about the dealer in PA (Selden Motors). Their reviews are either great or horrible. Jaguar XJ8 XJ8 | eBay

I have had Mercedes for the past 15 years and am familiar with air suspension. Currently have an E 500 with air suspension and had it not work due to worn wires that took 2 weeks and 3 mechanics to locate and fix. Not bad after 130,000 miles.

I've test driven a few XJ's and like them a lot. Reliability seems to be good for the X358 series from what I gather. Looks like a nice ride!

From all the forums I've been on, there is a lot of knowledge out there and friendly advice is freely given. Look forward to tapping into the Jaguar brains.

Welcome to the forum Dr John,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I hope the XJ8 checks out OK and you are soon a Jaguar owner.

I can see you've already found your way to the X350 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link US Northeast - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello, John,
You seem to be a person who looks carefully before you leap. That's a good thing when buying Any used car, because there's a reason the last person got rid of it; maybe Lots of reasons, as you're no doubt aware. I wish you success in your quest.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thanks for the welcome. I've looked at a few cars and kissed a few frogs over the past few months. The pros are car checks all of my boxes. The cons are it is in Kenosha, WI and I'm in NJ; Pre Inspection shows the tires are worn down to 3/32 and the headliner is "slightly sagging".

The car is $18,000 plus $725 shipping to NJ. Feel free to look at it here

No service records. The Carfax only shows 2 owners and dates it was registered. Never saw a Carfax with NO service records. Only problem I see is the headliner is sagging at the rear window.

Saggy in the rear! Hmmmm.

I have seen Carfaxs with no service history. Perhaps the dealer wasn't in the system or the owner did not use the dealer for service. However if the current seller is a Jag dealer they should have info if it was serviced by a Jag dealer.

Well, it's signed, sealed, and waiting for delivery. I decided to go for the 2008 XJL in Black with Cream Interior. Should be picked up from the dealer in Kenosha, WI in a day or two. Have no idea when it will arrive but will post pictures and comments and questions when it gets to NJ.

Saggy in the rear! Everyone's a comedian!

Also, a technical online profile question. How do I put a picture on the header and list other autos on the footer? Can't seem to find the right area in my profile page to do it.

John,
At the top of any page here (under all the ads) is a bar, the left most label of which is UserCP, or User Control Panel. Click on that, and scroll down to Settings & Options, to the Edit Signature option. This is where you create your personalized signature. See this screen shot:

Down at the bottom somewhere is a button, PREVIEW SIGNATURE. Be sure you click on that before you post it so you don't find yourself embarrassed.

From there you can play with it until you're satisfied.

Thanks LnrB. I wasn't thinking avatar and signature. I was thinking header and footer.

It's official. Got the car on Thursday and took it to the Jersey Shore on Friday morning. Nicest ride I've had in years! Only saw 2 other Jag's on the road the entire weekend. Nice to drive down the road and not see yourself coming and going. My past cars were BMW's, Porsche, and MB. Cookie cutter cars. It's refreshing to have something different.
