Default Hello jag people. i need some advice

Hello. Im jason. Figured this would be the best place to ask what to do. I bought my mom a 98 xj8 with 88k miles 3 yrs ago. Paid $3500 to have the transmission rebuilt. It made it 1000 miles and she started doing the same bad a-drum thing. And would you believe the transmission shop has a new owner and won't warranty the work. So my question is.....what to do with a old jag the don't drive (other than limp mode) i can't see putting another 3k into her and i would hate to crush her. Help please

Maybe you can find a good used transmission? <shrug>

How's the rest of the car? Have the timing chain updates been done? If not, that's another upcoming expense....possibly very big expense if neglected and a failure occurs.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum Jason,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums.

For a low cost solution, Doug has the best idea with a used transmission. many more engines fail than transmissions so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome Pdxjaguar, Having bought and sold several businesses over the years, when you purchase a business you get the assets as well as the liabilities. If the business is still operating as a transmission shop he may still be on the hook if you received a warranty. Check with a local attorney before you drop another 3K. Laws vary.
